What Can my Xbox360 Do for me?

Trailblazer SS AWD ....Still a Mazda Junkie Though.
I have had one of these for about 7 weeks now and have spent a whole 20 minutes playing it....Its not like the old xbox to me..It seems too overcomplicated and I am really not sure what it's capabilities are and what it can do..so it's just kinda sitting there...waiting patiently for me to play it...

I guess Technology always throws me for a loop on my first try of new things.
I would love to hear of what this thing can do from the guys here that have tham and have been experimenting with them for a while now.

Discuss.

IMO untill Halo 3 comes out...nothing...guarantee someone is going to start about Gears of War...but I never found that half as fun as online halo...it was cool for a bit...then seemed redundant with all the duck/shoot stuff...

Not trying to start a war with anyone...but I have always been a playstation console fan over any of the rivaling systems (and NOT because I hate MS or halobox's...if the Halobox ever had a console specific game that I cared about other than Halo, I would like the halobox more...but they don't, and never have..aside from the first 3 hours of GoW)...The PS3 right now isn't doing a whole lot as far as games...but they are coming...I have the money to plunk down as soon as F1 06 comes out, and then soon after Warhawk is coming...which if it shapes up right, could be one of the best next gen online games currently for the PS3...Halo 3 obviously will get more people playing, and will probably be more fun...but you can already tell I love Halo...but for upcoming games: Warhawk, the next Twisted Metal, GT HD/5, F1 06, Metal Gear Solid: GotP, and a couple others...just for this year alone (aside from GT HD/5...who knows on that) have me more excited than Halobox 360's upcoming Halo3...my roommate has a Halobox, I will just play his...until there are better specific games for the halobox, I wouldn't buy one...and as of now even $299 or whatever is pretty expensive for a box that plays halo...

after rereading what you posted...my post didn't answer anything...what are you asking? Like what good games? or what you need to get the most out of it?...if you are talking about modding it and stuff, that I have no idea on...

Xbox 360 is the all in one media center , you can stream , videos, music , pix ,from your media pc, you can watch movies from you pc , you can rent movies in hd from your xbox 360 marketplace , and d.l game demos and pix and videos of upcoming games , watch normal dvds on the 360 and not to mention play alot of good games , halo 1-3 will work , gears of war ,rainbow six vegas, battlefield modern combat , and so many others. i have a 360 if you decide to go on xbox live my gamertag is evii one , wickedone82 , you should hit me up sometime .

It's more than just a video game console. You can easily hook it up so that it shares and displays your media from your PC. Since my TV was already hooked up to my TV, this wasn't really a big deal... but for the majority, this is a nice touch. As good as Xbox Live is, it's still a work in progress. You can easily play anyone, anytime... so that much hasn't changed. But there's definitely a big focus on content. Just last night I DL'ed a couple episodes of the Chapelle Show, Crank Yankers and even a HD movie. Granted, while more and more movies, shows, music videos, etc are added each day... it's still very much in the early stages.

One of the really cool features of xbox live is the fact that you can DL game demos for free. The benefit there is obvious.

Best thing to do is just F around with it. Right now, it has the best games and easiest, most user-friendly interface. The HD-DVD add-on is pretty sweet as well.

I say go into XBOX Live marketplace through the console... and go to town!

Been playing Street Fighter II for like a week! HA

was looking for more of what Besides gaming will this console do..and how do I do it. I have a few games already for my 360 GOW,Saints Row,MotoGP 06, Tomb Raider...but I have yet to play it much at all because I dont think its user friendly at all. Too many screens, options and configuration set-points...Not to mention..How do I use it to stream stuff from my PC?
These are more along the lines of what I am looking for.

1) Make sure your media is visible within WMP 11 (file, add files/folder to library)

2) Next, turn on sharing. This can be done by right clicking on 'library' within WMP

3) Assuming your computer is connected to the same network as your Xbox, the rest should be a snap. Just go through the built-in wizard.

I'm surprised you say the interface is hard to understand. One of the big things the XBox has going for it is the interface. Most, if not all, critics say it's the best around. Maybe you just need more time with it.

2nd, or is it 3rd on the Media Center Extender. Since I got a Wii, that's all my 360 is good for. If it wasn't for that feature, I would sell it.

all it's good for? I've got a Wii too and, while it's a lot of fun (especially for parties) real gaming can only be had on the xbox

I agree...Everyone around here is flipping about the Wii...and it was fun for a bit, but it wears off real fast...if you have a bunch of people over, it really can't be beat...especially once the new smash brothers comes out...but if you are by yourself...A Wii can't touch the better games on the HD consoles...

i dont know why anyone has said it but i think itis pretty obvious you would fall under the category of non-hardcode gamer.m more of an old school guy that love nintendo and what not.
so, what your xbox360 can do for you? it can sell itself for a bout $350; enought to buy yourself a wii and and have$100 bucks leftover to get a second controller and a game or a combination of both or whatever.

FLAMERS, i am not against the xbox 360; i think its a fine machine. Have not played it much but i admire the technology and the effort. But as far as playing it and really getting the most of it; the wii takes it hands down. At least for now. We'll see when more games come out.

Stop the insanity! The Wii takes it hands down? lmao wtf u smokin?

Seriously people... even though they're both video game consoles, the Wii & Xbox really shouldn't even be compared to one another. Though I have no data to support this notion, I'd be shocked if the majority of xbox/wii buyers are cross-shopping the consoles. Xbox/PS3 is a different story.

Old school games are fun.... takes you back to a simpler time no doubt. While MS has XBox Live Arcade, it's admitedly nowhere near as good as the Wii Virtual Console. (namely due to the lack of Nintendo games) Even still, having an xbox doesn't exactly force you into a world of the latest/greatest games... you can easily get your old-school game on.

Clearly that's not what it's designed for. Unlike the Wii, games appear in 1080i resolution. Comparing 1080 vs 480 is like comparing.... dvd to vhs. Am I orverly bummed the Wii isn't in HD though? Not really.. the graphics are s*** compared to the xbox. they're probably a notch below the original xbox... if that. But obviously that's not what THAT console was designed to do.

Bottom line... 2 completely different experiences. Unless you're only interested in playing games that were (let's face it) pretty much designed for kids in mind.... there's no reason to ditch the xbox for a wii. If anything, save up for the Wii and have both.

You really love your xbox, huh chico?

The 360 leaves a lot to be desired imo. Most games are far too easy and have terrible game play. Halo for example, while it was fun for a bit, this jump around and shot style was lame and was only exemplified with Call of Duty. I enjoyed Splinter Cell but found it along with Gears of War to way too easy even on the harder settings.

Just Cause, great concept but failed in the details department. The map is lacking for such an expansive confusing board. The missions are far too simple and so lack any sort of direction.

Rainbow Six was well done but gets old quickly with a laid out map that steers you like cattle.

GRAW - Was great for it multiplayer and the new levels that were released gave the game that much more. I haven't really played it since then.

Also why didn't the 360 come with built in wireless. What era do we live in?

Love? That's a bit strong... I never even look at the thing all week but once the weekend rolls around, it's fun to F around with.

I'll be the first to admit it's not perfect. But then again... what is? It's certainly more "perfect" than any other video game system on the market.

You want built in wireless. I'm assuming you mean wi-fi and not wireless controls (which it clearly has.) This feature falls into the same category as a built in blu-ray/hd-dvd or even an hdmi port. They're all nice to have... but are they truly necessary? In the end, there's only a small % of people who would tap into it and that would only jack up the price for the rest. not good business sense.

Don't get me wrong... wi-fi is cool and all. I use my laptop around and outside the house all the time. But for an xbox (which really never moves)... is it that much of a hassle to physically plug it into the network? It wasn't for me but.. if it was, I'd still do it. In my experience, it's faster and more reliable.

As far as the games go... "most games are far too easy and have terrible gameplay" If you truly believe this... I have just one question for you. If the gameplay is so horrendous, why are you committing so much time to playing? Due to the lack of time I have... and my low attention span... I can't remember the last game I actually beat. I'm more into sports games that you can't actually beat anyway but still, those games you mentioned seemed plenty difficult for me. As far as gameplay goes... you might be the first to criticize the likes of Halo, RB6, GoW, etc. for having bad gameplay. There might be some flaws but I don't think gameplay is one of them.

Like I said... for what's on the market, it's the best we've got.
