What Can my Xbox360 Do for me?

all points taken and conceded in a way as you conceded some points to the wii. yeah it is a different animal, but an animal nonetheless; meaning it is still a console. You argue games are for kids or old; i disagree; ii have not had as much fun since n64 bond; but the simple crappy wii sports is just as fun. There are other games that come in both platforms; call of duty comes to mind as well as a bunch of ea sports games that will come out. Yeah graphics are not the same; but to be honest i'll tyake wii graphics anyday if it has the playability the wii has over the xbox 360 movie like graphics. If i wanted to watch a movie i would pop in a DVD. Let me repeat though, i am not a xbox 360 hater; i actually do like it and i would like to to have one as well as my wii; but if i have to have 1 i'll take the wii hands down. Just my personal opionion, and like colors we can argue all day cause to each its own.
One thing i will disagree with you is the wi fi though. I understand your argument relating to the blu-ray, hdmi; but wifi is different; it costs 29.99 at the store. buy it in bulk and add it to a console; maybe 5-10 more dollars on the bottom line. Yeah i may not be a big deal if you have your house completely wired, but al i have is a wireless router and all my devices have a built-in wifi. I can move my living room around and not worry where i will get the internet cable from; or have to tape it to the floor or rug like in college.

just because it costs $30 in the store doesn't mean that's how much it would cost MS. You can only buy parts that are designed into the schematic. This schematic was undoubtedly finalized about 2 years ago. How much did this capability cost back then? Even if the cost was neglible, the sheer fact that it doesn't benefit that many people is reason enough not to absorb an additional cost. You're looking at all of this through your own eyes. Try to see the big picture. There's such little profit in these things... even $30 makes a difference.

Sony's going to learn all of this the hard way. They weren't going to make a profit at the $600 mark they set... now there's talk of them dropping the price (since they're not selling). I'm sure Sony will manage in the long run but do you think losing money on something that took millions to develop and produce makes sense?

i went the 360 way simply because i enjoyed the xbox 1 so much. The ps1/ps2 bored me, and i found the majority of it's games were chessy and poorly done. I think the ps1/2 basically defined the term "console crap" by itself ( referring to the games that is). As a PC gamer, i thought the ps1/2 were hideous. The 360 certainly isn't perfect. Has a MAJOR hardware issue with cooling and soldering issues which is causing extremely high failure rates, but the game lineup is the best of all 3 consoles right now and it looks to be for some time. Just make sure you get the warranty and don't do anything to void it. Since mine has died, and I've taken the time to look into the issue, my advice to anyone is to NOT GET THE 360. Not until a new version comes out. It's just not made propery. As much as I enjoyed mine, MS has made a shoddy pos.

If you knew anything about the game industry... which is apparent you don't. You would know that since consoles have been sold they have been sold at a loss. Just recently did MS break even. The industry makes its money from the games.

PS3 did the correct thing with pricing... considering the blu-ray technology, selling the system cheaply would "cheapen" Sony's brand of blu-ray all the way around. I think the problem they are encountering is the ability to produce games on such a complex platform... not until recently have we seen the 360 REALLY stretch its legs. How soon we forget the games that launched with the 360, just a bunch of re-badged Xbox games. The system is ahead of its time and will keep up for years to come.

Also I don't need consider myself an avid gamer but I still find it fairly easy to beat the games in minimal time.

All this graphics talk for justification is silly. Silly, silly comparison. What has made a video game console over the years? Game play and game support. If it doesn't have these two things, it doesn't matter how good the graphics are, it fails. Neo Geo? 3DO? Jaguar? Dreamcast? Those were all the superior systems when they were released. How many of you have even heard of or played the 3DO or Jaguar? You can have perfect 1080P games, but if your game play is sucks, no one is coming on board.

The NES was behind the Sega Master System in respect to graphics, but it won with better game play.

Same thing with the PSX and N64.

Dreamcast lost to both because of lack of game support.

I do know this. When I bought my Wii, I got the last one. There were plenty of PS3's and Xbox360's there. So Nintendo is doing something right. What other console out there (ever) could span generations? My mom, who NEVER played video games, will play Wii. My kids play it with me. I'll agree that it's more family or group oriented, but that's the point. Wii play do you is a marketing phrase. It was meant to be played together. Nintendo has rarely taken aim at the 18-25 year old male and they still aren't with the Wii. You still can't discount what it is.

As far as the PS3 pricing, add the HD-DVD to the price of the premium 360 and then tell me the PS3 is way over priced. The PS2 outsold the Xbox by far too, but it's safe to say the Xbox was at least partially successful.

P.S. Real hardcore gamers own multiple consoles and have a PC that blows them all away. :)

As much as I appreciate your opening comments, I'll refrain from getting involved in any childish banter with you. Let's just say you distorted what I said and completely took it out of context. As was the case with your "they should have put wi-fi in the consolte because I WANT IT damnit!" argument, you're not looking at the big picture. Obviously the consoles themselves do not create profits (at least early on) but there's more to it than that. If you're in charge of MS, you're more interested in the bottom line. Like you said, the profit from games and accessories (not to mention the online content) is so high, the fact that they're losing money on the acutal console is practically irrelevant. I suppose in a way, it's like your drug dealer giving you your first batch of crack for free. He knows that, once ou're hooked, you'll keep coming back for more. (that was meant as a joke. I know your crack addicition is a sensitive subject.)

Seriously though... homez wanted to know what his 360 could do for him and I think he now (hopefully) knows. Just in case... maybe an analogy will do the trick. Since this is a car forum... It's clear the 360 and MS3 have a lot in common. While plenty fast/powerful... they may not be THE fastest on the block but overall, cant' be beat. Both can be different things to different people so it's all about what you want. Just make sure you ditch the wheels... I mean, case. http://www.modchipstore.com/XCM-360-Xbox-360-full-replacement-case-BLACK-KNIGHT-16352.html

Opps, sorry. Media Center. I hear there are mod chips for it too. I haven't looked into if they really work well or not. That will probably get me back into it someday.

lol @ fanboy not getting into childish banter.

You can mod the CD drive to read burned discs you do need a dual layer burner and a Desktop.
