What blowoff valve are you running?

Why is it you want to run a BOV? to get the cool sound? ridiculous! dump the boost back into intake.

ridiculous to you but that is your opinion, not everybodys. i do like the sound. so therefor i will be going VTA. cause in the end it is my car. so no need to post useless stuff like this. maybe it is "more efficient and give a little more power" but if i wanted more power i wouldnt have got an MSP...

You will NOT get more power with a bpv vs a bov, tossing the cold air back into the intake in theory is good, but it goes to the turbo which is ~300 degrees and that cold air wot do anything. That is why there is a intercooler.

/end this talk, if you really want to talk about what is better make another thread, this is just about BOV's people....

I'm with outlaw on this...
MSP-2003.5 You posted that same pic in at least 20 threads, and you are the only person I've seen that happen to.
Many people have been running The MAF on the boost side for a long time,
To the point where the initial "how to kill your turkey" was updated with a V2 stating this exact point.

well this has been a super informative thread. and it has simplified things for me and prob a lot of other members. so relocate the maf to the cold side and put the bov on the hot side and we should be all set??
CORRECT!!!

While your at it redo your vac lines, Mazda did a real bad job tapping for the BPV and WGA. Go get yourself a Vacuum block or make your own using this how to ( this is what I did) and install it on the brake booster line on the passenger side of the check valve
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=119514&highlight=mcmaster

It cleans up the bay and makes looking for a leak 10x easier, your giving the WGA/BOV/ Boost gauge/Piggyback all there own solid sources instead of the hack job plastic "T"s Mazda installed!!

ok i chipping in my last two cents and hopefully not getting an infraction. BPV wont make more power (hot or cold air) but it generally helps spool the turbo faster again. thats the only advantage.

and i have vacuum blocks available for 25 shipped with fittings.

Oh, and with a BOV or BPV, the shorter the Vac line the better, thats why I would sugust putting the BOV/BPV near stock location because it is the shortest way to run a Vacline. Which is also why most people put both the MAF and the BOV on the cold pipe but space them out evenly so it does not mess anything up. With the turbolife FMIC the nipple that comes on the cold pipe is actually at the perfect location.

But comeon people! I want to see more BOV's!!!!

And with the TurboXS, justinlansdale used to run one and at first didnt have his MAF relocated, I told him about it and he switched it all over and then the TurboXS got louder. He didnt have the RFL. He had the one that looked like a RFL but one that COULD be set up to be a BPV.

Im running a dual setup, stock BPV/ HKS SSQV. Although I love the sound of it and it really turns heads..hell I can even hear the echo of it when it goes off, I didn't get it for the sound. It got rid of the horrible surge I was getting. and yes I could have just recirculated the SSQV but my CS FMIC came with the flange for the stock bpv so I just kept it instead of getting a new pipe without the flange and I didn't feel like cutting the recirc. pipe on my Injen CAI.

if recirc gives faster spool up time then i think im going to keep my VTA cuz it already spools ******* quick lol and im sure the BPV would only make like a 200rpm spool up time difference
HKS FTW!!, im thinking about buying a version 2 cuz my V1 is starting to show its age, plus the allen bolts are stripped out so i cant change the insert anymore :(

ive got the forge bpv for ms3/ms6 on my car. problem is, it stalls/sputters after every idle rev and coming to a stop. I found out that as the revs come down the unit is recirculating air, causing the car to sputter. Never figured out why, I assume its designed to work with the 3/6 only? i gotta get something different eventually. Ive tried all 4 springs for it too

Now I remember why the turboXS RFL didnt work on my car. I have the hiboost fmic kit with the greddy flange. I had to get the adapter and it was always loose no matter what I did. Thats what happened. So I sold it.

Thanks for posting that actually because I was thinking of doing the exact same (got the HiBoost kit with Greddy Type S right now and was gonna get the adapter for the RFL). I love my Greddy Type S; the sound is just beautiful. I went from BPV to BOV and no loss of performance here. Oh and relocating the MAF for me was one of the greatest mods as the car runs muuuch better now (no rpm drops, smoother idle, etc.).

True yea, type S sound is A+. My car run's harder with a BOV or hold's boost better maybe that's why.

Not relocating my MAF tho, about to get a standalone.

i cant either but im gonna figure out a way to get-er-done... ill let you know how my MSIII goes (when it goes).

stupid east coast (+cali)

^the issue isn't with it being a larger bpv, is it opening all the way?

it is. What Ive loosened the recirc hose so I can pull it off as its doing the idle drop to see what its doing and I know that its still shooting air out. sometimes it even sticks open and I can feel that it did in fact open all the way

It's still not legal to run a standalone, that is to just pass emmissions.

But Zack you might of had a faughty BOV, it needs to be a perfect machine job so it seals up.

this is the 3rd one ive tried. Granted it worked for a bit when new, but when used on a speed3 they worked perfect. hell, my friend is currently using my last 'bad one' on his ms3
