As the title says, we bought a CR-V. We got a AWD EX trim for 25077 OTD.
I probably sounded like a cheap *ss bastard in my other posts, but that wasn't my intent. I was just trying to get the best deal possible and all these salesman wanted me to pay MSRP. I finally got one dealer to go down $600 with all season mats and cargo tray thrown in for free, and all I can say is that you will never/maybe? find a Honda for invoice.
Here is my comparison between the 5 and the CR-V.
In the exterior looks department, the 5 wins hands down for me, although the CR-V is starting to grow on me.
In the interior, it was a close call. They both looked really nice. I liked that the 5 was really versatile. It could seat 4/5/6 if I needed it too. I don't know about you guys, but I like cheap plastic that looks really high end. It doesn't bother me. The only thing that I thought they could improve on is the look of the dash and the instrument panel. The CR-V's interior looks just about a notch higher than the 5 in fit and finish. Especially, the dash and instrument panel. I'm a bit of a gadget freak, so the CR-V's TPMS, real-time MPG/Range, and the maintenance minder really won me over. I'll see how well those features work in the upcoming future.
On smooth asphalt the 5 really shines and is very quite. It hugs the road just like our P5. But over bumps and on the highway it was noisier than the CR-V. IIRC, while driving the 5 around 60 the rpm was around 21-2300rpm while the CR-V was only at about 18-1900. So I guess that answered my question about the 5AT, and yes, 500rpm or so on the highway does make a difference in engine noise, to me anyways. The shifts are very smooth on the CR-V, and to my surprise, it handles well.
I'm only comparing the two, because my wife and I had settled on either one. But in the end, my wife had the final say, and it was the CR-V.
Well, at least I inherited the P5.
