Well.....Was it worth the wait???

I had my deposit down on a Mazdaspeed, but I couldn't put up with all the delays and bulls***. I went out that day and bought a WRX and no offence to anyone but I'm sooo glad I did.
Congrats to all of you who stuck it out, you have way more patience and tollerance than I.

yeh, i'm almost thinking of doing the same. so far my fleet manager promised to contact me every week to keep me updated but it has already been 2-3 weeks. then spoke to a sales manager at the same dealership and he said he'd email me with status on the next shipment of cars but that was about 5 days ago. they keep making these promises and breaking them. if i didn't want this car as much as i do then i would have left a long time ago. i don't think i'll wait any longer than march. i originally wanted this car as an early christmas gift and now it seems it's gonna be an early birthday gift (b-day mid-march). i just wish that i could get some sort of date and not these random answers, "hopefully in 2 weeks...". guess we'll see what happens.

Don't give up hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I waited for almost a year for mine. I get to pick it up on monday. I test drove a black one a month ago and it's well worth the wait. infact I almost bought the black one instead of waiting for the orange, but now that I have seen the orange one in person I'm glad that I waited. Hold out if you can I know a couple of people that have 02 wrx's and they have had problems with first gear going out. subaru wouldn't replace the tranny because he had an aftermarket exhaust and a cold air intake!!!!!!!!!! can you belive that.I'd wait

WRX's aren't known for the strength of their tranny, but I think a lot of failures are people trying to get the same 0-60 #'s as the magazines by dumping the clutch a high revs. Poor tranny, the shock of that much HP transmitted to all 4 wheels with no slip must be enourmous.
To be perfectly honest, I think both the MSP and WRX are tremendous cars, and if you like one, you're almost certain to like the other. Whatever you decide will make you happy.

It's true that some people have had problems with the trannies in the WRX, but 95% of the failure was driver error (rev to 6 grand and dump clutch) what do you expect!!?? I'm not putting down the Mazdaspeed, but I suspect it will have it's share of trouble also. As far as the warranty denial claims it's illegal for a dealer to deny warranty UNLESS they can prove the aftermarket product did in fact cause the failure. I fail to see the link between an exhaust and intake having any thing to do with the tranny.
Anyway I didn't mean for this to sound defensive, I really wanted the Mazdaspeed, but I'll take 20 years of a proven rally car over 1 year of delays, aftermarket parts, lies and broken promises any day.

msp canada, it's true that my friends with the wrx's that had tranny problems were leaving the line at 5500 rpm, but in the owners manual they said to achieve the best 0-60 and quarter mile times was to leave the line at 5500 rpm. One of the guys only drag raced twice before his first gear broke. If sub. doesnt want the owners to leave the line at that rpm thn they shouldn't put it in the owners manual. don't get me wrong I like wrx's and what grimace said is right the shock has to be enourmous on the tranny. At least it seems that they fixed the problem in 2003 in their sti. :) by putting a new tranny in so what ever car you buy should be great. Hopefully neither cars have any problems!

WAIT FOR THE MAZDA!!! I have 2 friends with WRX's. 1 has blown the motor, and tranny has gone, dealership is givin him a bunch of s*** about it. He's one of the Truest drivers I know. Other friend and I went out last night to play. We went to a 10 story parkin garage to get some footage of us cornering. He tried to get away from me, but he just flat out couldn't, I kept havin to hit the brakes. Even with his AWD drive car(ha ha ha) he was slidin threw the turns scweelin all over the place. Not one time did my tires even chirp. Not even any torque steer really. Not tryin to bable, just last night the WRX did not impress me at all. Stick it out and wait for the Speed...Later,

I gave up too. I put down a deposit on one in November but toward the end of December I couldn't put off a new car any longer. Turned out for the better anyway because when i finally got a call that the dealership in my area had them they said they wanted $2000 above what they had told me they were going to charge.
