Well, I'm getting F%@&'d Over

Well, I ordered my APC vented hood from a dist. called Autobahn Wholesale...I get the hood today, and there are factory defects all over it...the weave is all messed up, the fiberglass on the back is all messed up, and there is even a section of the hood that I can see through. So I call the dist. and he says there is nothing I can do since it was signed for. Which by the way, was signed for by my neighbor! I was out of town...and authorized no one to sign for it. Also, the manager has been nothing but an ass to me since my first call...any suggestions on what I should do?(argh)

screw distributors...get ahold of the manufacturer(apc)...tell them its bulls*** that your hood is that way.

How can they say since you signed for it that they cannot do anything about factory defects? Was it wrapped in anything or totally exposed? If it was wrapped then they cant say that since it would be no different if you had bought it and taken it home before realizing it was defective.

I would also call the manufacturer and let them know you had a problem with the part AND that their distributer is being an ass. They would want to know, companies really want to know when their distributers are not living up to their end of the deal by representing the problem with class. If they are a respectable company they will take care of you and lay into the distributor for you.

Good luck.(drinks)

APC being the company that they are most likely will not let you keep a messed up hood. If they are smart, they will see this as a PR (Public Relations) issue and take care of it immediately. How they let a hood that messed up get by them is totally beyond me. :( As far as the distributor goes, his hands are probably tied, all he can do is uphold their policy. It sucks for him because if he is to take the hood back and refund your money, he would basically be absorbing the cost. If the shop you ordered if from isn't a large shop like Options Auto, NOPI or something in that direction, they can't afford to take a hit like that. I hope everything works out for you man.

Being a distributor and considered a small business I have no defense for them. IF the part has factory defects the distributor/dealer is required to warranty the product and take claims for it. If they don't do this then you should file a complaint with the better business bureau and then call the manufacturer. You did the right thing in calling the dealer first. Now that you've been denied you should go to the next step, APC and BBB if neither are resolved. Take digi pics and forward them.

If we shipped out a product and did not QC it prior then that is our error. The purchaser is not informed that after purchase they will receive a piece of "s***". Had the purchaser known this then he would not have purchased.

Regardless, I am sure that APC drop shipped it or something so you should definitely call them and lay some pressure. Do not delay as time is of the essence. You do not want that part in your hands for too long. If you're not being helped then go to the top as far as you can. don't tolerate this stuff and tell your distributor to file his own claims to his vendor rather than you filing it for him. It really should have been his responsibility.

Didn't you know about APC quality? Look at their Alteezas and stuff. Can anybody say TDM, taiwanese Dometic Market. hehe. It's good stuff for the price I guess.

Thats why I ordered mine through Autozone. I wasn't impressed with Autobahn and didn't want to take a chance on them. Sure I paid a little more, but it got here very quickly and the customer service was great. You can also get the hood from Advance and Pep Boys.

This is a lesson. Sure there are companies out there that will sell you a product at a lower price, but price is not the only thing that should be looked at. Reputation and CS is just as important.

when you call Autobahn you need to ask for Joe, phone 1800-555-9207 ext 2058, he is the best one there in my opinion. Im still waiting on my top grill from them.(beer)
