i live in the most conservative state in the us... good ole kansas...
i just think politics is funny... nobody does what they say... ti goes for both sides.

i dont see why two gay men cant live in one hosue under marriage... seperation of church and state... freedom to excercise religion in the way they wish...

That may be true, but some people may think of me as being a liberal hippie, or (insert your stereotype here) but in the end I have every right to spend my money and live my life the way I want. They are going to have to tolerate and co-exist with me and I with them, pick your battles (gay marriage, etc...) and move on from the petty disagreements.

What angers me is so many people use the extreme Christians to use as an example to go off of. I realize the topic starter isn't angry at Christians but many of the people in this topic are. Look around, of course the only Christians you see in the news are going to be the crazy extreme ones. You don't see everyday Islamic people in the news do you? No. You only see the crazy Al Queda who goes over the top and ruins it for everyone. Christians are not oil hungry or money hungry. Christians don't picket funerals and hate "*** America." Christians don't purposely try to piss people off or look for buttons to push.

I guess my point is, we live in America. We take for granted the first amendment right of freedom of speech. This is example is of Christians using their right to be in your face about something. What about gay pride parades that interfere with driving conditions? What about pro abortion walks and billboards. I could just as easily say those offend me and throw a fit but I don't. It is just as much their right to participate as it is this church throwing up their statue.

i think it is tacky, but to each his own. I think the pentagram hypo is completely unfounded though and wouldnt stand up under law because of the fact that "satanism" is not a recognized religion under the law.
In the declaration of independence it says one nation under god, and the constitution also allows for freedom of speech and religion (how narrowly the courts describe "religion" is up to their discretion) but i see nothing here that would necessarily merit a court deciding to take this down.
I am just stating that the pentagram example probably wouldnt fly because satanism isnt really a recognized religion by the law and erecting a statue like that would just not fly.
Now however if the statue were wearing say a yammkah then that would be more accurate because judaism is a recognized religion under the law.
People can believe in whatever they want within the privacy of their own homes, however when if comes to acting out, like erecting a satanic lady in plain view of many others, there will be limits. Since the country has "christian" roots this lady that was erected doesnt really step on any legal toes although it might offend some.
