Welding an open diff on fwd

I've seen a wide range of opinions on this from stupid to great.

Does anyone know how it will work out? Car will mostly be tracked but will see some street use if it was track only I wouldn't think twice about it but safety is a concern for myself and others.

I don't expect the trans to last with the power I'll be making. It is a G series but spline count is different from a protege so I can't get an msp LSD and I'm not paying $600 for an LSD to fit for a trans that's gona break and be replaced. But 300+ whp won't be any fun with an open diff.

Please do not start out with negativity and actually know what you're talking about

When I had my 92 Saturn a lot of the guys on that forum welded the diff ($150) instead of buying a quafie ($750) never heard of any real problems as far as drivability
