Weird "outie" dent straight from the dealer.

Well, I got back from my break yesterday and went to check out the car on the high hopes my salesman gave me, that my car looked great. It did NOT look great. It looked better...but there was still a ripple in my door. No photos yet, sorry. I got the store manager involved...again...and he pleaded for a second shot at repairing it right (he saw that it was sill not right, right away). He seemed like a straight-up guy, just trying to keep the good name of his dealership. We'll see.

I just got an email a few minutes ago from the same salesman that told me everything was good-to-go yesterday, telling me,

We had the work done again and I think you will be satisfied.

Well, I'm responding to his email, requesting that he have the dealership manager look at my car again, and have him call or email me, verifying that he has inspected it himself before I make the time to get out to the dealership again (a 30 minute drive, one-way). We'll see what fruit this bears. If I'm not satisfied this go-round, I'm afraid I will have to get corporate involved (which, surprisingly, the manager suggested last night).

(which, surprisingly, the manager suggested last night).

because then the dealer can move on if the problem is blessed by mazdausa, get you what you need and continue to try to sell cars instead of worrying about your problem. of course i trust you will take him up on that if it doesn't satisfy you this time 'round!

good luck man!

and as chuck D said, "fight the power!"

Trust that I won't rest until I'm happy. I won't get any sleep otherwise. Public Enemy: always the voice of reason. (boom01)

I just await a response to my email. I'll let you know how it works out!

I can kinda relate, my Msp developed the same "outie" dents on my rear passenger door. I have 3 outie dents along the centre beam equally space out...really weird. The car was flawless when I got it and I routinely inspect/wax the car and these freak dents appeared 2 years later.

Since I hate my dealership with a passion...I chose to handle this on my own. Lucky for me, last summer I found another door in the exact titanium color...so no painting. I still need to swap doors...people laugh cause in the meantime, I keep the door in my living room.

that is the from the carrier that holds the window. if you slam(med) the door with the window down, the carrier has more weight to it and the bolts will use that momentum to tap the inside of the outer door skin. this is oh-so-common all across the board. i know for a fact it happens to 96-00 honda civics.

it is a gradual thing, or it can be a two or three time slam deal- hard to say, but it's common.

i need pictures of this. my ms3 has a huge ripple/crease down my passenger front door. I confronted the dealership about it (called them 2 days after I got the car and let them know) and they told me a shopping basket probably hit the door, causing the dents with no scratches. lame.

Any photos would be of great help to me as well.

Now that is the best explanation I've heard...which makes think, would having my window a quarter down while driving over time cause this also? Or is mainly due to slamming the door with the window down?

See, I smoke in my car but I ventilate by opening the my window and the rear passenger window to create a current....keeps my car smelling like new.

Even if the window caused it..Thats BS and a flawed design.
I would Fully expect a Manufacturer to fix it 100% if that was the case.

And I dont think I would wait any longer to get MNAO involved. I think this is not going to end up well.
It sounds like they are just trying to band aid the problem by using a PDR guy...You will never get those ripples straightened out without real bodywork..Trust me..I know..I do it.

And I still wouldnt be happy if they did that...I'm telling you..I would be asking straight up for a replacement car....Let the dealership figure out what to do with this one.

I really think it might be time to take a drastic measure with them to show them you really mean business.

Just my .02..Take it as you will.

Regardless of how, where or when it happened, it was before you came along. You are paying for a new car & they are there to sell new cars as new. If it is blemished then it is not new & you should get scratch & dent reduced sale price. NOTHING less than a blemishfree fully functional unit qualifies it as new. Stand your ground & make them make it right. Those same pricks will see that as damage & devalue it accordingly if you were trying to trade it in on something down the road even tho it came like that. Tell them your insurance company is hassling you about it saying the car already has damage. The insurance company didn't ask about it or have they even seen the car?
