Weird noise

Hey, iv had my msp since november, my first car im 17, and i love it.
i just registerd on this forum, my car is all stock.

i jsut got a question, lately iv been hearing this noise that sounds like screetching when i accelerate around 5000Rpms and iv been wondering what it is. i was thinkin maybe something wrong wit the turbo or transmission maybe i dont know.
Anybody have any clue?

i take it you know wut the turbo spooling up sounds like. ive heard that the wastegate starts making a whistling noise when it starts going bad.

the wastegate controls the amount of boost the turbo will allow (unless you have a boost controller of some sort). the stock wastegate tends to crap out over time and i beleive the diaphragm tears which causes the turbo to overboost. in the past, you had to buy a new turbo because there was no cheap replacement for the stock wastegate. ATP carries a direct swap for like 50-60 bucks i beleive. this may not be ur problem at all. the turbo should make noise especially when it is spooling up. if your wastegate is ******, you will know. does the car feel faster than usual?

idk not rele, it seems a like louder. it only happens sometimes i hear this liek screetching. should i like take it to mazda dealer or something

i wish i could have got my car when i was 17 i guess it takes a while to save when u have to pay for it urself

Cmon dude, that was a dueche-bag thing to say, for somebody who just asked about if its normal that his cai was making sucking noises.

I agree its the intake, but then again I hear the air being sucked into the intake at around 3grand.

thank god ur contributing so much to this forum.

also the thread starter said his car is stock. so no cai.

Take it to the stearlership and let them look at it. Did you buy the car from a dealer or through a person directly?

My advice would be to check the wastegate - definately sounds like a tear in the diaphram. @ full boost it causes the wastegate to whistle because of the tear...

alright thanks. ill bring it in to the dealer.
and i bought it through a person directly. this guy was like so anal about the car tho, he like didnt even alow water bottles in it hah.

if you have a bov, (specifically the forge) then it does that @ partial throttle. It's the biggest piece of s*** I've purchased for my msp.

Tryin not to thread jack, but I also have a question. IM thinkin my wastegate is goin b/c of that sorta screeching noise, but also i have realized that it seems to want to sort of hesitate when im in the higher gears. I have the split second afc and was wonderin if the split second would cause it to hesitate. Also I am running forged rods and pistons so where can I find a wastegate that can handle high boost?

what are you boosting?
what are you using to control timing for this higher boost?
are you using a general map on the a/f controller?
or did you get the controller retuned for the higher boost level?
do you have a wideband or do you know what a/f ratios you are at?

sorry about the gay thing i said b4 and hatin on the starter of this thread it was unnecessary and off topic i apologize
