Weird Idling and the cooling fan

I have les than 3000 miles on the car. When im idling the car will get really low and rough kinda idle and then it will jump back to like 900 RPM, then slowly back down to 600 and then jump back up.

The cooling fan is running what seems like all the time. Right after I stop at a light it kicks on. Does the fan run alot in anyone elses car.

Could be your idle control or your a/c as well.

The fan runs a lot in my car.

Do you have the vent set on defrost as well? Some cars (not sure if the MSP is one) run the A/C unit when the windshield deforst setting is selected. I guess it makes for drier air, which is more effective at defrosting- even if the setting is warm.

my vent is set on floor and is on 2. I does it when I turn it off too. The fan runs no matter what. Ive had this car 2 months and it is driving me crazy...

The a/c compressor will run on def, def/flr, and flr. Providing it is warm enough outside. It's temp sensitive.

There's a mod to disable this so that you get full control of the a/c. It's on the forum somewhere. I'm fixing mine when summer comes around again.

Protege2ner - my rpms drop like that occasionally. I have roughly 3400 miles on mine. It happens when I jus turned the on the ignition or when im cooling it down. The rpm falls...hits what looks like 200, then jumps back up the 600.

Is this normal...?

Yeah....I get the fan running all the time too. It used to bug me, but w/ over 23K now, I'm used to it & barely notice it. As for the idle dropping RPM's, mine w/ do that once in a while too. I know there are other threads that comment on it as well, but I'm not sure if there is a "cure". I can deal w/ mine....it's when it starts stalling that I'll be right up the service tech's asses.
