weird front suspension issue

Ok maybe its not too weird, but its bugging me because I nor my mechanic knows why the hell its like this. I bought my MSP in Aug 08 and haven't touched a part on it yet, but about a month before she came off the road for the winter in Dec I noticed a nasty creak sound from the right front wheel when I hit a bump. The sound continued for the whole month and i also noticed a pull that was totally random; sometimes left, sometimes right and never under consistent circumstances. The pull wasn't dangerous but very annoying instead, so I figure I should get this handled: enter my mechanic. He says, "hey nothings bent, everything is strong and straight......except there is is really weird thing going on, I can twist your spring on the strut with my bare hands!" Ok, so wtf is going now then, eh? The way I see it, the spring was either not replaced when the previous idiot got aftermarket struts and now the spring is too small, or some crazy thing happened to make just that one spring too small. I'm guessing as a result the strut has been working overtime to try to make up for it and is most likely damaged.

So now I'm leaning towards getting all new struts and springs across the front and maybe the back if money(wife) allows. What I want to know is whats a great set that fits the setting: I like to go fast but my wife doesn't like bumps much....oh yeah and she doesn't like spending too much either. Also has anyone else seen something like this or experienced it??

Ok, I just looked under my wells and I can see my struts are blue(tokico?) couldn't see a name on them and my springs are definitely Tein, green ones, can see the name further up on them, possibly cheap ebay knock offs maybe? that why they'd fail like that?

ok, I just googled the number I can see on the side of my springs....pretty sure they're fakes. They read "R-P1M47-OUO" can't find this on Tein's site nor on google, anyone else have any input on this?

MAJOR squeak also from sway bar bushings went it gets cold. Just remove them and grease them with lithium grease

suspension squeek is from bad ball joints, your mechanic should know that. Replace them.

i am having this same problem, well im sure its the same, i was driving through a very uneven parking lot the other day and heard nothing but tiny squeaks coming from the front, and noe it happens on a regular basis through spead bumps too. i imagined it was my struts and springs, but i dont even know wat ball joints are.?? where are they and about how much are they to replace?? thanks

I should think something is wrong with my suspension due to the fact that my spring on that side is able to fully rotate around the strut seating, the other side is totally immobile, can I be that wrong?

Its possible that your right front strut is shot... When they lose internal pressure the piston collapses over a bump and won't extend all the way back
up... Ball joints coould be going as well; check out the HardRace thread started by Ken of Protege Garage. You can buy a set of new lower control arms with ball joints for about $250.00. Then look into struts and springs... the complete Tokico HP set is under $500.00. If you can do the labor, your suspension can be as good as new (or better) for $750.00.
