Weird Flapping Sound..

New engine, driving it more now. Finally got my vacuum line crap figured out. Took it for a drive a few mins ago. As I'm going down the road in 4th, it's a weird flapping sound, like something is on the tire. As I accelerate, it increases. Not constant, seems to do it when I'm in a regular driving speed and not when I'm going slow. Checked the tires, nothing underneath. Can't feel a "bump" either when it does it, so I'm assuming I don't have a lump on one of my tires.. Any ideas?

Is any of the plastic pieces underneath loose? Maybe a screw or two came out and the plastic up front (underneath) is moving around.

The plastic things underneath have been removed prior to this happening, I've looked underneath and still cannot figure out what it is.

have a MAN check it out??

alright im just kidding...

Does this problem only happen in fourth gear? Did u check your CV boots?

I know this seems like a dumb question, but are your wheel lugs tight? cause i know i get alot of cars in the shop that just have loose lugs and the customer complains about popping/flapping/crunching/ect sounds while driving...

^^ditto, on the lug nuts, not the MAN comment. Happened to me once, but I truly believe somebody loosened them intentially.

I've had many arguments with men, because the ones that I know don't know anything about Mazdas. I just come here to find info, then do it myself. (pullup)

I'll check my lugs, that may be a thought. Also another issue has been a gurgling/rattling sound, along with a sound that almost sounds like belts, but then sounds like a saw when driving.. high-pitched sound when downshifting and letting the car brake itself. I'm thinking this is now a tranny issue, since it is in that exact vicinity.. made a couple videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byu4sJ4XWgE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBCgpszzYDo&NR=1 Going to try to make a video today of the sawing noise.. and another of the gurgling/rattling sound.

Small exhaust leaks at a exhaust gasket can sound like flapping. In fact it is the gasket flapping around. It won't do it if in neautral revving because there is no load on the engine, as more load is put on the engine (in gear) the stronger the exhaust pulse will get. Check it out, just to be sure...
