Weird feel when releasing brake pedal

Since I have had my new CX-5 (1 month), this is the second issue I have had with the brakes. Initially, the vehicle came with warped front rotors, which the dealer repaired when the vehicle was about 1 week old. Ever since then, I have noticed a strange sensation when releasing the brake pedal on a slight incline. I am familiar with hill start assist (my other vehicle has it) and I do not believe this is related. My issue is that when releaseing the brake pedal on a slight incline the pedal sometimes moves back in to position very roughly. It almost feels like the pedal grinds its way back in a very choppy fashion (the pedal hesitates on the way up repeatedly, as if it were binding on something). On a flat surface, downhill, or steeper uphill the brakes are absolutely perfect. I have inspected the pedal linkage, brake light switch, and do not believe it to be a master cylinder/booster issue as it only happens when the incline is slight. I plan on checking for a loose brake pad this weekend but after that I am out of ideas. Anyone else ntice this?

I wouldn't bother with anything, I would just go back and let them deal with it. Maybe they forgot to tighten something, or who knows what else they did, they did not do it properly.
Maybe, those pins in the calipers are dry and the pads don't slide back nicely. Somebody pointed out on this forum, that he found those pins dry.

That was probably me. 1000 miles and caliper pin lube was marginal. But, Manray, your pins would have to be rusty and frozen up to make that kind of feel. Sounds almost like ABS is activating according to your description. Tibimakai's advice is sound. The dealer already had a problem with the brakes, allow them to rectify the rest, and you can add it to their records for any future issues. I haven't heard of that issue. Of course, adding more lube to the pins won't hurt at all. I also had air in my lines. Now that all pins are lubed and no air, braking feel is great, and my brakes engages within a 1/4 inch of downward pedal movement.

make sure you keep records in case you need to do a lemon law or something

hahaha same thing happened to me, got the car 1 month old before and It vibrates violenty where you can see the steering wheel shakes from left to right when braking, It does not matter whether city or highway driving it vibrates,

they did fix the issue, but i had to transfer dealership, cause the one I bought my car would not do anything about it, I went to a smaller one and gladly fixed my issues, but they machined it instead of replacing it, Is this a good thing or a bad one?

Reconditioning the rotor or replacing it under warranty is the discretion of the dealership. If we are splitting hairs, I would prefer a new rotor to a machined one, but both will work in either case without a safety issue. It's just that new rotor may last longer since it's slightly thicker. A rotor is discarded and replaced new once it's thickness is below the manufacturer's minimum specification.

I know, bjut they never gave me the option, so yep my rotors are machined and more thinner now =( i guess mazda is really bad when it comes to warranty,

our crv had the same problem 3 mos ago, but it was already a year in our ownership, well dealer said just replace it for free, no argument whatsoever.

Well, like I mentioned, it's up to each dealer to decide how to handle it. I wouldn't blame Mazda themselves as much as the place you dealt with.
