Weighted Shift Knob after STS installed?

So after I installed my STS I noticed that my shift were more solid although they required more effort than before (using my JBarone weighted shift knob). This morning I decided to see how it felt with the stock shift knob and it definitely required less effort and had faster shifts.

Is this normal? Btw, I have the cobb shift counterweight.

Yeah, it should have a more soild, direct feel. Almost notchy. That's what STS's are. :) I'm not so sure how a weighted knob would affect how much effort was required.

I've always felt that the weighted shift knob when used in my Miata required more effort to get it out of its current gear but it clicked into the next gear almost automatically. I haven't gotten a weighted shift knob for the MS3 yet and I don't have a counterweight other than stock so I can't comment on that.

Its not wrong or right. Its just personal preference on how you like the shifter to feel. The more "weight" on the shifter is going to make for a more solid shift. Makes it feel like you are really changing a gear. A stock shifter is built to make it as easy as possible to shift the gear. Like you could shift the gear with one finger if you wanted to with little effort. But if you are into "racing" your car and like the feel of some feed back when you shift that is what a shorter shift and a weighted knob will do for you.
