haha i bought a roll of that s*** and did my civic a couple years ago. ahh the ricer days lol worked good and only cost i think 100 bucks for i wanna say 50 sqft?? just look on ebay for it.

I have to say that this car is just a noisy, but the damping helps a great deal. The weight added is around 18 lbs I used about 75 sq Ft of my 100 Sq Ft Fatmat Sound Deadener order. The order was 2 rolls of 33.5’ L X 8” W with a shipping weight of 31pounds Installation Weight of the full 100 Sq Ft is 23 Pounds. The floor is the hardest part of this project; I took the most time on the floor I couldn’t believe the clock read 6:45am Saturday morning after starting Friday 7:30pm.
This is the same treatment that I did to my Scion XB, And that car drove like a go-kart but sounded like a hummer, or any high end car i.e. Mother-in-law’s Benz 300 and believe it or not dad’s Bmw 750 One thing is true you get what you pay for. I know Mazda didn’t coincided going to the level that I did but we have one hell of a platform to build on.

I used fatmat on my Civic too. Helps a lot, but be prepared for some nasty smells come summer time...the fatmat-stuff is asphalt based. so it smells, literally, like asphalt after it was freshly applied. Otherwise its cheap, works great.

So is there something better, that doesnt have a bad smell ??

its only temporary. But there are other mats that are not asphalt-based, usually more expensive. Can't link to other forums but if you google "sound deadening comparison" there is lots of info. Main ones are Raamat, SecondskinAudio, newer Dynamat that are Butyl-based. Here is a good site to compare, if not appropriate for whatever reason, please remove mods.

Thanks for the link. That was a very informative read.

If you'd like to buy some Dynamat but don't want to pay crazy prices, I bought mine from https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned). Free shipping, took three days and most of the dynamat they sell is 50% off what car toys or any car audio shop sells it for. I just had some audio work done on my car (just labor, I provided all the hardware) "Dynamat 10455 Xtreme Bulk Pack 9 Sheets" cost me $134, now I was holding off spending that money and found the price on amazon didn't fluctuate for 5 months. Yes it's still kinda of expensive but it's a lot of matting for a good price. The owner at the store asked me how much I paid and he told me it's pretty damn close to the price he buys it for to sell to his customers.

I have a 2008 Mazda 3 Sedan and the ENTIRE trunk is dynamatted (running JL 10w6v2)
