I just got an email from the development and research team from weapon r agreeing to make a engine damper kit for the protege (msp, protege, p5). They just need someone to bring their car in for them to prototype.

Hopefully someone who lives near them would agree to do this. Their address is

Newb question here...How different are the engine bays of the msp, protege, p5? If they make a kit for the p5 would it also work with the others?

It would depend on where they'd brace the damper. Most things are in the same location on the three......

supposed to hold the motor in place, ala motor mount

ive looked, didnt see too many nice places to put engine dampers, but could be wrong.

Will it make the ride more harsh (i.e. vibrations in the interior) Just like stiffer motor mounts will??

I heard it wouldn't. It's like a stiffer mount but without the harsh vibration.
You get the benefit of a motor mount with little increase in cabin vibration. It doesn't work as well as new mounts, though.

Interesting to see how this turns out.

I wonder how long this will take. I only have the one car to use and commute to work 5 days a week.

So would this help to reduce the wheel hopping?

So give them a call and ask them how long they need it for.(2thumbs)
