I've been reading about issues with the windshield chipping and/or pitting very easily. What's the deal? Any issues here?
I'm almost 10,000 miles in and my windshield is still pretty good, just a couple tiny chips. I've even driven behind trucks with pebbles and sand blasting my car for a mile or so and windshield has been okay and surprisingly only one paint chip on my lower bumper. After reading about it on the other forum, I had installed a windshield protection film from clearplex, just to give me a better piece of mind lol I've always wanted to do it on my previous car but it was already pretty pitted so I didn't bother. I actually got hit by a good size piece of rock not long after installing it and it only left a little ding on the film. I think it's a good investment and will probably get it for my future cars too.
Honestly, I don't find this windshield any different than all the other cars I've had. On my honda accord I had quite a bit of chips on it but was lucky enough to never get hit by a rock while driving on the freeway. My maxima, I had a rock hit it pretty hard and left a crack which grew and had to replace windshield. My last car, pontiac vibe, I got a crack while driving around 60mph after something hit it when I had less than 2,000 miles on it, had to replace it. Every car is different and probably the angle of the windshield makes it more prone to getting chip? I don't really know haha but that's my experience so far. It's really hard to tell if you'll be unlucky enough to get hit with a decent sized rock with sharp edges at just the right angle and speed to crack the windshield or whatever that will happen.
Teach me about this clearplex!
How much did you pay? It's a liquid or a film? Easy to install?
Thanks!
