Waze address input CX-5 2024

:
2024 CX5 Akera G25
Still getting used to the infotainment screen on the new 24 CX5 not being a touch screen….

Trying to input an address to go to in Waze - scroll across to select the keyboard at the top of the page, keyboard pops up, but cannot find a way to get the cursor onto the keyboard to start selecting letters etc to type in the address -

Is there a way or is the only option to use voice instructions?? Or type the address into Waze on the iPhone, which is what I resorted to after 5 minutes trying to get it to work on the Mazda screen…

Why not use voice instruction? I do that with my AA maps (usually Google maps) all the time and it works extremely well. Much easier than typing on a physical keyboard, never mind a screen keyboard.

I don't use Waze but I do use Google Maps, and I always pull up the location there on the phone and hit Start.

Here you go.

Here you go.

Not mentioned.

I know how to use the dial to move around the screen by turning it, pushing left/right/up/down and pressing the button.

And I use that to select the keyboard at the top of the Waze page so it pops the large keyboard up - which you then use to input an address.

Or, at least I would use it, except I cannot get “into” that keyboard to select letters and numbers in order to input the address.

I think that I have tried all the up/down/sideways/turning/pressing the dial stuff and still cant get into the keyboard.

So thats the only question I have - is there a way I have missed to get into that keyboard so I can input an address IF I WANT TO??

If the answer is no, it wont work due to Waze being designed for touch screens and the Mazda infotainment screen not being touchscreen, then fine, and if someone knows that for sure, could they kindly just confirm.

Bruh here you go. First you'll need to look at the first video I sent and follow the instructions from 2:30 into the video.

Alright thanks - go it now! Can see that the screen actually is … a touchscreen 🤦🏻

Confusion arose because the “Delivery Coordinator” who ran us through the system when we took delivery of the car told us that the screen was NOT touchscreen like our previous 2015/16 KE and that everything would need to be done via the dial. EVERYTHING!

No mention of it actually being touchscreen when in CarPlay mode….

Im not in the habit of entering an address into Waze while driving - if that needs to be done, the navigator does it.

I went into settings and ticked the in motion option. So that will let the boss do the Waze traffic and police reports when we are driving too.

Anyway thanks. Problem solved.
