All right guys. I just picked up my MSP yesterday. Absolutely love it! Only issue Im havin is that the factory alarm is way too sensative. I live in an apartment right by a busy road. It seems every time something drives by my car beeps. It happens alot and after only one day the people next door have already complained about it. Is there a way to lower the sensitivity of the alarm myself or do I need to go to the dealer?

yeah that kinda sucks... my friend's car test pipe, so no cats used to set off everyone's alarms

Yes you can adjust the sensitivity of the alarm. Its a small black box with a white turn knob on the side of it. Its located under the steering colum... Get up under the steering wheel and have a look around. It should be up there just hanging near the factory alarm main unit. You will notice if you touch it or hit it the red light will blink... Just adjust the knob accordingly to what sensitivity you want.

yes the shock sensor is very very sensitive.. and hard to adjust.. mine is still a bit too sensitive but you gotta adjust it very very fine.. too far and its not sensitive, too much and it's too sensitive.. we spent 20mins adjusting mine lol.

I feel ya, at my old apartment I would have to sleep with my keys in my hand to push the unlock/lock buttons all the time to shut it up lol. I didnt want to turn it down b.c I didnt trust anyone there and I was paranoid about the car getting broken into. When I moved to my condo with a garage I turned it down some. Now that my alarm is messed up anyways it doesnt matter.

i wouldn't be surprised to see my car egged over night, my alarm goes off every single night and i park outside in residentail areas...

I had this same problem last night... well this morning. The guy who lives next door to me, has a real loud harley, and all he did was turn it on to get it warm before riding. Long story short, I had to hit the unlock button every 30seconds.
That info on how to set the sensitivity will come in much help when im done work tonight.

if you are confident no one will touch it then you unlock.. open and close the door and it wont arm itself anymore.. however your car is now unlocked for anyone lol.

Thanks to all for the help. It will come in handy tomorrow.

I wasnt too confident so instead I just pulled the fuse for the horn that way I could lock it put I dont have to worry about pissing the enitre neighborhood off until I can fix the problem properly tomorrow...

It's a small black plastic box a little larger than an Altoids tin. The corners are rounded, and it has a little white knob sticking out of one side of it. It will be under the driver's side dash, and I don't think it's ever in the same spot. Just keep digging until you find it.

The only thing I can't remember is which way to turn said knob to lower the sensitivity. I think it's counter-clockwise, but I'm not 100% on that.
