wax on mustache

so for the $5 it will run me, should i snag simple green or back to black? It was a creamy hand wax as far as i know. Just a bit on the mustache and sime on the passanger side mirror area

Well if hes using Armor all to dress exterior trim, experience tells me hes probably not using the most expensive/quality products. So the wax he was using was probaby something from Autozone or kragen.

Could have been Megs gold class. Its a nice wax for what it is, leaves a nice wetness to the paint, is very slick because of the amount of oils in it, however stains trim really badly.

I would say go for the B2B just because its relatively cheap, and if your not satisfied you could just bring it back.

EASIEST fix is 50/50 alcohol and water solution, spray it on wipe if off once it's dryed your good to go just put some plastic polish on it and call it a day. it's an OLD detail secret from back in the day with good old Turtle Wax paste that stained EVERYTHING it touched that was plastic.


I would HIGHILY suggest against using armor all on exterior trim, the solution will cause aberrations in the paint that is NOT removable once it sets in from overspray or when it rains, just something that has happened over the 10 years I've been detailing cars.

you might want to be clear what you mean by a plastic polish.

By definition a polish is abrasives in a oil based(generalizing) solution. So people might get the wrong idea and grab a bottle of say Megs #7 (which is stated by megs to be a pure polish) and just stain their trim worse

By plastic polish do you mean a dressing?

The only plastic polish im aware of is plastX which as far as I know is only to be used on Clear plastics, and isnt meant for textured plastics like trim.

i have some wax on mine as well but wasn't too worried about removing it. i was going to clean up the black plastic trim sometime in the near future. something i have in my car cleaning collection has to work.

Good idea, just use some of that Turtle Wax ice liquid polish, it works wonders.

pencil eraser works great. Try it on a small spot, it won't mess up the plastic.

i am going to try this, it would be free to at least try, i guess i just get the eraser wet and try rubbing the wax out of the plastic dimples.

It doesn't even need to be wet. Just erase as you would erase a pencil mark.

Peanut butter, seriously. I've used it myself with good results. The oil even makes it somewhat shiny I suppose.
