Water leak into CX-5 trunk

:
CX-5, fwd auto
Hi,

I searched as I have pool of water in the spare tire well. I have tightened bolts on roof rack, removed rubber drain thing on hatch tail gates and tested by using garden hose. When I do the test by water hose no leak. Last night rained so I checked this morning, no leak. But after driving in the rain for 30 min to work, leak appeared sweeping from back driver side.

Any fix or ideas will be appreciated as I am at total loss, thanks.

Checked the moonroof drains? Usually they dump in that area. I've heard getting a long pipe cleaner into them can help. Headliner wet?

Hi Thanks, no sun roof on my car. Also body panel behind tail lights seems dry but water sweeps from rear corner drivers side.

Hi, yesterday seales around known places, around antenna, rubber connector between body and hatch. When I see the taillights it's dry from back side. I parked under a roof and this morning remained dry. Do I drove in the sun for 20 min or so and now see water sweeping into trunk again but car did not go through any rain, any suggestions?

How could water sweep in when no rain?

Looking at some historical posts on another forum on same problem it was gasket around the hatch lock/motor.

Maybe leave spare tire exposed and spray some water with hose at base of hatch to see if you notice water coming in?

Did you see the part where he said there was a leak without it raining?

Does OP use a car wash with underbody spray? What is the model year? I realize FWD but pressurized water could make it into the rear via ABS wheel-speed sensor harness grommet.

That was a design flaw in 13-16.5 models that could take the rear differential out

“"The breather pipe grommet (A), located in the trunk, may be submerged in water that penetrated through the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor harness grommet (B) during a high pressure car wash. ”

Thanks will try hosing the wheel well as water come in when driving in rain. Water is coming from where arrow is pointing and behind but can not tell where water come in in the first place.

A factory defect if there but probably well beyond the Body/Corrosion Warranty which I think is only 5 years

Thanks, i will look at TBS and hose water in the wheel well from under and see. Water is pooling where the arrow is and just behind. If I know how I can reach the otherside, take panel out and silicone all areas. Thanks again.

Look around the ABS sensor bracket grommet. That is where intrusion occurs in TSB for the AWD models

Thanks everyone. I had small dent on rear quatre panel that was fixed but maybe drain was blocked when fixed?
I caulked most of holes that tire moldings clips go in and leak is now minimal. Does someone have service manual to see why water that goes into hole on fender (where tire trim clips go in) leaks into the trunk?
How can I remove rear tire well covers to see if I can plug any hole inside the tire well?
