Was there a 2001 Pro 5?

Just wondering which year the Pro 5 came out. I'm a little confuse about that. Was there a 2001 model or was there just a 2002 that came out in 2001?

i thought it was 2001 when i was first lookin into p5's back in november. but i guess not... i asked my dealer where are all the 2001 models?? he said that its a 2002 model and there is no 2001s

The 2002 p5 came out late 2001, so there is no 2001 p5s, I know this is confusing, but the 2003 matrix and corolla just came out, and its not even 2003. It is just that every manufacturers have different time to introduce their new models to the market. (Sometimes even different models of the same year, same manufacturer came out at different time. ex. 2002 civic came out around 2001 summer while 2002 crv came out winter 2002)

BTW, FYI, the Japanese p5 equivalent, Familia S-Wagon, came out long before North American p5. It came out at least 4 years ago, not sure though, anyone wants to check on that?

The first 2002 Protege5 commercial ran in May of 2001. Thats when it came out. I looked at them back then but wasn't ready to buy yet plus dealers charged arm and a leg. I bought mine in august and paid less then invoice on a yellow one due to s-plan. doing my homework was worth it.

I believe the S-Plan is a special deal for ford/mazda employees and their friends/relatives. dont know the specifics
