Warning: Mounting Radiator Fans Directly Onto the Radiator Core

This past weekend I had to replace my damaged radiator. My spal slim fans had rubbed through the core and caused a pinhole size leak. Several other spots were about to rub through as well.

I am running 1 medium profile spal slim fan and 1 high performance spal slim fan. I chose not to use the cheap pin kits to avoid damaging the radiator (ironic), so I used several mounting brackets to securely hold the fans in place.

Apparently the excessive vibration from the fans took its toll on the core. This time around I placed flat rubber spacers around the edges of the fans. Hopefully this will remedy the issue.

The best solution would be to use a shroud to offset the fans from the radiator. However, I don't think any are available for my particular setup.


Just a heads up to save someone else a headache, and a little money!

well the push pin setup with the foam spacers should be all u need to space them away from the core. but a metal washer should work just as goood..

i used two metal washers and a zip tie, works fine for me.
