My wife has been complaining about the same thing in our 2010, but I generally feel if the beep(s) occur, there's usually a reason for it. This morning I discovered that the TPMS light was on in the dash; certainly this could contribute the alerts she is hearing. Also, when she said she heard a beep 6 times, a review of the owner's manual revealed this tidbit of info:
Advanced Key Removed from Vehicle Warning BeepA beep sound will be heard and the KEY warning
light (red) will flash continuously when The start knob has not been returned to
the LOCK position and all the doors
are closed after removing the advanced
key from the vehicle. (A beep sound
will be heard 6 times.)
NOTE:
Because the advanced key utilizes low-intensity
radio waves, the Advanced Key Removed From
Vehicle Warning may activate if the advanced
key is carried together with a metal object or it
is placed in a poor signal reception area
within the vehicle.
The note here is important in that it just might explain the 6 beeps (she carries her cell phone in her handbag along with the AKE fob), but she didn't notice if there was a blinking key icon on the dash. Others here have cited that the dash-light dimmer knob can cause a beep from time to time if set to an extreme setting, just an FYI.
