warm up and cool down

I let it run about 30 sec. to a minute after coming home from work but I ALWAYS open the hood and let the garage ceiling fan do it's thing to help remove all the heat. :D

i drive a msp and in the morning i let it warm up for about 5 min.. and my turbo timer is set to 30 sec.. but if i run hard i set the TT to 1:30-2:30. depends..

I disagree, but hey it's your car. Lets just see how long your turbo makes it to..

The way I see it, unless I've been pushing the car or it's really hot outside, I don't see any reason to cool off a turbo when it's sucking down -10 and colder air. I stay off boost, and my daily commute to work is only around 10 miles.

doesnt matter what rpm range you are its depends how you use gas pedal...just be gentle :P

yup...turbo's always spinning no matter what, even at idle. when the engine is under load, however, that's when it spins the fastest and produces the most boost.

i always let it warm up about 10 minutes, cuz i also set the heater to 75. and when i park it, i usually just take the time to turn off the accessories and unbuckle and a couple other things that just waste a little bit of time before i shut it off. i generally try not to max out the turbo in the last 3-5 minutes of a trip, that way i don't have to let it idle for so long.

and sure letting it idle for too long may waste gas, but i could waste battery too. i find that if i idle for a long time and turn it off the radiator fans keep running after i shut it down, probably cuz it gets so hot under the hood and sitting for a while means no air is going through the radiator

I get the radiator too after letting it cool for a minute or two. I might shave my cool down to about 40 seconds. I never romp it on the way to the driveway anyway, as my neighborhood has narrow streets, cats, kids, and old ladies with mean looks on their faces...

i normally let it warm up until the rpm's drop to a around 1k, which is close to idle. i do that whether it's cold or hot outside. and then when cooling down, i'll sit there for like 30 seconds or so....normally to keep me occupied while cooling down, i'll undo the seat belt, grab my bookbag, and stuff like that. then i turn it off....

-5*F this morning... BOOO. I let it warm up for a good 5 minutes this morning because of it. And surprisingly I didnt even get the nasty suspension crunch while driving, which i have before in +9*F

go massachusetts!!!!!!!!! dude...it got so cold here a few eeks ago my cars bushings sounded like a 400 year old houses sqeeky floor board. lol. s*** got to -7 at 9am on my way to work. when i went to nh it was -25!!! ill warm my car out however i want thankyou. lol.

s*** i always warm up 1-3 minutes but i never cool down.. i should start shouldn't i?

because you havethe same rims as me ill let you in on a secret. 30 seconds after driving normal unless you dont boost for the last minute of driving. and if you decide to boost into your parking space give it 1 minute. its a water cooled turbo so it doesnt take long. the owners manual even says let 1 mintue after heavy driving. your welcome.

everyday when I get home from work I take the intercooler off and throw it in the freezer overnight so she runs proper in the morn.

I turn it on to accessory mode for 5 seconds to let the fuel lines pressurize and let it go thru its system start up and checks. Then just fire it up and go, keep it under 3K rpm until the temp gague is at operating temp.
