Any suggestion? Are the position of the gas padel adujustable? Do I need to glue a layer of plastic or something similar on the suface of the gas padel? Thanks. (wiggle)

I can do it with the standard rubber pedal covers. I guess it depends on how big & wide your feet are.

no adjustments needed. you'll be fine

i do it fine with stock setup,
ima size 11. and no probs at all. and our pedals are quite close so iono why there should be a problem reaching. :/

I have been doing it for nearly 4.5 years now on the stock P5 setup. Even recently after buying size 13 doc martins...

I bought some inexpensive Pilot pedal covers for my brake and throttle pedal that helped out a lot. I usually wear Pumas and have narrow sneakers. And I was taught a little differently on how to downshift like heel/toe. My friends dad used to race Minis and Triumphs and taught us when we were 16 how to downshift. I simply place the left side of my right foot on the brake pedal and right side of my right foot on the throttle pedal. Then just roll my ankle to the throttle while downshifting and braking. It's a lot easier to learn than real heel/toe downshifting and works just as well.

But those cats in the Best of Motoring videos doing the real heel/toe downshifting impress the hell outta me!

This is exactly how I do it as well! (Glad I didn't have to try to explain that- you did a nice job.) With my big-ass feet- there is no way I would be able to actually turn foot sideways. With the "use left side of right foot and twist ankle" method, I've never had an issue regardless of the shoes I am wearing.

How those dudes can actually turn their foot sideways is beyond my understanding!

It should be stated for those trying to learn this- please don't practice in traffic! I can't even begin to count how many times I would accidentally slam my brakes, or accidentally slip off the brake hitting the gas, or accidentally hit BOTH (when I only mean to brake) and not be able to control what is going on. It can be very scary when you head tells you that you are breaking but the car seems to be accelerating towards someone's bumper...

Be safe.

Thanks, I will practice that with the engine off first.

Thanks! And I wonder how you put thosecovers on the pedals? Gule or fasten with bolts?

LOL...+1 to this, that's absolutely true! Nothing like trying to blip the throttle
while you're braking and downshifting and have your foot slip!
When I first learned I did it only when there was no traffic.

just double shift or just downshift and slowly let off the clutch, our trans is synchro'd for a reason.
and +2 to the heel toe in traffic.
if ur not familiar with it dont even attempt to do it in traffic.
it doesnt take too much to slip up and hit someone when your mind tells you that your braking...

Then practice while in neutral. Get to the point where you can mash the brake pretty well and regualte the RPMs to 2K-ish. Change the brake pressure but maintain the RPMs.

Then practice for real going from 5th to 3rd (with no traffic around).

Then keep doing it until you become a pro! Like me!

Yes, it does impress my friends ;)
