No problem. Im just waiting for my mounting feet to come in, then I will install the other side. Post up some pics when you finish yours. also how you did your wiring =)
I was thinking of making it a howto or just take tons of pictures. The fan left Colorado springs yesterday so hopefully it will be here by the end of the week.
No the water neck on my msp radiator for the upper Rad hose broke off in my hands in December(210k miles on the thing) so I purchased a p5 radiator. I think it turned out to be for an auto cause it has no drain plug....
Thanks for the offer there yudkib. I actually cut the plug off of the pass side fan to wire in my slim fan. And then trashed the msp fans.
Also tracking number said the package was processed through the Charlotte sorting center at 12:48 am so it will either be here today or tomorrow.
Did you happen to note what colour the wires were for the primary fan when you wired your first fan in?
Postive and negative colours?
Do you also know what the colours are for the a/c fan? I know that you aren't going down that route but I thought that you might know off hand?
I started to put mine in. The fan is mounted to the radiator and the wires are run to the driver side of the engine bay. All thats left is the relay. But im kinda lost on wiring the relay in. The fan has a negative and a positive wire. The relay calls for one wire to the fan, one to a ground, one to the switch(primary fan) and one to the positive side of the battery. Now thos is my first time wiring a relay. So does the ground for the fan go to the relay on the ground prong? And how am I wiring the relay to the primary fan wiring? Im just a little confused.
All grounds on the car eventually go to the chassis, so you can wire the ground on the fan to the relay ground prong to keep things streamlined but you will then need to wire that to an actual ground (i.e. chassis ground)
For the relay switch connection, just tap a wire into the +12 wire on the primary fan, and run that to the switch prong on the relay.
Pin 85 should also be wired to chassis ground, otherwise yes that's correct. It's not necessary to run the fan ground to pin 85... but as long as you're running the power from the relay to the fan, you may as well bundle the two together and then run a single ground from the relay instead of running two ground wires. You know what I mean?
Yes. Could I wire the ground from the fan and the ground for the relay into one female connector to the relay and then run that wire(not fan wire) to say the ground at the fuse box?
It's a relay harness that as a temp sender that you stick into the radiator fins. Once you reach the temp you requested (160-220) the fans kick on. (yes 2 fans, so they turn on at a lower temp once I get these installed)
I would run separate ground wires for the fan ground and the relay ground. IIRC relays will operate forwards and backwards, and having the fan grounded to the relay just seems like trouble. Do it properly first time and there is less chance of a stuff-up.
Also, any advice on what colour the stock wires are for the positive and negative on the primary fan?
