What about the gear rations and rear end (diff) on the pickup.....How would this work with the 12A engine.....I'd imagine you'd have to do a 1-2 gear change as soon as you pop the clutch if you keep the B2200 diff......

That's where you may run into a problem.....The ratio on the diff is made for the tall gear ratios of the B2200 stock gear box and so you'll find that the first gear will rev out very quickly......
I had a buddy of mine do this 12A swap on a B-series back in 1993 and he didn't get very far in first gear because of that. Having said that, the pickup was a pretty fast ride nevertheless and it was always a surprise to hear the rotary sing out of a pickup.....Good luck.
