I had a little fender bender with my baby and I asked the body shop if they would get me a carbon fiber hood that would fit within the insurance estimate and they ended up getting me a ViS OEM style hood. Does anyone know if the ViS OEM C/F hood is a good one????

r u kidding ever1 get VIS...that s*** is hella good!!! u jus gotta make sure u u wax it wit black wax cuz i made that mistake me s*** is crackn lik fuk i need a new 1..

I was very happy with my hood. Even being in Cali with all this sun and had no yellowing. Just make sure you use black wax. Everything else made it cloudy for me and left streaks.

.. Holy crap, anybody wanna translate that into coherent English?

Anyway, from what I've heard, VIS hoods tend to vary with quality and fitment. I've heard okay things, and I've heard bad things.

I have a Gemini Composites reverse cowl CF hood on my MSP, so I can only offer a personal opinion on that. But yes, you DO need to make sure you wax and take care of whatever CF hood you get -- or your clearcoat will go bad in a very short amount of time.

ive had mine for 2 years now, and it has been nothing but good to me! no yellowing, cracking, or any other problems. granted it comes off in the winter. as long as u wax it and maintain it, it will last for a while!!

never heard of this wax you speak of. does it come in cran-mango, or as the hip people like to call it, crango

My friend got one under sort of the same circumstances (insurance coverage for hail damage). The fitment is practically better than stock. It looks great. Theres one or maybe 2 small blemishes in the weave, but they're only noticable if you really look for them. When he got it, we threw a coat of zaino sealant on it to protect it.

I will definatly take some pics once I get her back. Where do you get this black wax?

You can get black wax wherever you can get wax. I use Black Turtle wax on my old VIS hood and on my current Evo hood. Plus since my car is black I do the whole car in it. Really shines it up and if you miss a spot it doesn't get all crusty and white which doesn't look good for colors like us.

My VIS hood fits like s*it. They didnt give me clearance for my damn A/C line, so there's about a 1/2 inch or more gap on the right side. The clear coat is also shot and needs to be redone. I've had this hood on for about 2 years. The next one I get will probably be a Seibon.

mine has been okay, knock on wood. i guess i will start to use this "black wax" and see if its any better. my car sits a lot, sometimes weeks at a time and it needs a clay job really bad, so ill wax it then

CF painting

My Protege is red my current hood is faided, not sure if I want to fix it or not a CF can be painted like a red right & restore my baby?
