i had good experience with oem from the start. i can't say my hawks are that much better.
 
i run my autozone wagner's on x-drilled/slotted and they are fine! equal if not better than OEM. i have to remember to lube those metal pad clips next time i have the wheels off. i think my rear pads hava been rubbing a little since last fall.....has not been causing any problems though......

Hawk pads are manufactured for performance/racing applications. They are not a product intended for normal street driving. Noise and dusting is inevitable. If you want quiet, clean brakes, stick with stock and kwitcherbitchin.
 
What are people doing to have trouble with the Hawks? Guess I just lucked out & got a set before the rep over quality thing started because my HPSs with Brembo C/S rotors have been nothing but stellar on a street car. Minimal dusting, hardly any more than stock. Only noise was for first few days while pads were bedding in with new rotors then all quiet & stop on a dime no locking up wheel action just like super ABS or something. Over 45k on this set up with 1/3 pad left & no problems, not even the sticky guide pin thing or dragging ass rear pad thing. And no I'm not tryin to sell anybody on this setup so buy whatever.
 
You're looking at the #2's. Just get a little tub of brake grease, grease the pins, and slide them through the hole and repeat until it's smooth and there's no grabbiness.

yeah, but the ones that are not "removable" are inaccessible without disassembling the entire caliper. Also, those ones are pretty much sealed, so they *SHOULD* be fine. Also, that diagram is for "Front Brake Removal / Assembly" from the shop manual, and it says nothing about greasing the other pin. Oh, they'e called guide pins in the manual, same concept.
 
ahhh I see. The howto on this site does not mention lubing...I am going to post in it now to see if I can get someone to update it.

So only the guide pin you remove has to be lubed right? ...with brake grease?
