Very odd question!

Mazda Protege '00
I have a 2000 protege........ being that my brother is a mechanic, and a very enthusiastic honda guy, we came up with the ide of swaping a B16 or B18 into my car.... Now If theres anyone who knows what that would take to be done, please feel free to let me know..... i know the wiring has to be completely swapped out but engine bay wise, the mounts i imagine are extremely diffrent...... I know its kind of a weird swap, but if i get it done i will be unique, which i love being lol.....

but its still not gona feel like the engine being in a honda as they are super lighter than our protege5. which is what u have? or u have the sedan?

i dont see this happening... thats alot of custom work and wiring taht you might as well buy a honda...
 
speed3 swap into pro5 would be cool.
has there been a swap done yet? i think there was....dont remember
 
the only swap that i know of into a p5 is the klze.

Noone has done a MZR swap or it would be EVERYWHERE

yea that swap has been talked about for YEARS on here, if someone did it that would be insane, but its too much $$$
 
well concidering we'd be doing most of the swaps including the wiring the only thing i worry about is the mounts...... but it might just be a better idea to just buy a honda lol...... just would be funny to see peoples faces when i bust v-tech on a mazda protege lol
 
plus mazda parts are super expensive..... honda parts are cheap as helll, so i really think in the long run it'll be about the same as me building my 1.6l protege, maybee little better concidering the amazingness of v-tech popping lol
 
B series Swaps are common and work in older Honda's mainly because of how light the car is. A B18C is going to be a noticable upgrade in a car that weights 2400-2600lbs.. Im not sure how heavy a Protege Sedan is, but if its more than that, I would think it wouldnt be worth it performance wise.
 
the protege sedan is roughly the same weight.

i think it would be way more custom work than is worth it...
 
lol the custom work will be done by me and my brother so cost is reduced by alot, just woried bout the mounts.... might have to get them custom.... wich hopefully wont be too much... but b18 sounds good..... but for now the projects on hold...... but i am makin some upgrades on my looks... bout to drop it finnaly and putting sport max 002s =) 15x8's =D

One off custom mounts will be very expensive. Youll be the only person in the world with a swap like this. It is not going to be cheap.
 
I would just do what everyone wants you to really do and swap a MZR Into a Protege. :)
I really dont like the idea of a Honda motor in one of our cars.......

BUT if you want, convert to RWD and put a corvette motor in it :D
