Very nice bayarea dealership for out-of-warranty service

I had a 2004 MPV and was rear-ended on highway last oct. The insurance company gave me 15100 for it. Since I had no budget for a brand new car, I got a 2nd hand 2007 Mazda 5 that was a prior rental. It is a very nice car until last weekend. I started to notice a humming noise during 20~40mpg. After I noticed the problem/noise, I get more and more frustrated by it everyday. I wished this problem can appear earlier because the mileage just got over 36k 3 weeks ago.

Today, I brought the car to midas for a check up on the noise, 3 hours later, they called me back saying the wheel bearing is fauty and needs replacement. With this, I am looking for about 1000 in the repair cost. They said the part is a dealer-only parts that they cannot get it. But, the costs of the bearing is 800ish on the list.

I am very disappointed and started to call around all the Mazda dealerships to see what they can do to help me out on this.

First I call, Fremont Mazda, they asked 900 for the similar repair.

Then, I call, xxxxxx Mazda (I will put the name in after I got the car back), the manager who answered the call really listened to my problem and asked me to bring in for a look first and he will see if he can give me a help. Maybe he can give me a 50% discount on it, said the manager.

I bought the car in, he looked and talked with me on where and how I get the car and if I like the car. Then, he said it is only a little bit over warranty period, he will talk to mazda to see if he can get it fixed on a curtesy. But, I had to do the 30k major service with them for him to try that for me. Since I only did oil change twice with Walmart after I got the car, I think it is a very good deal for me.

Late today, the manager called me back and said they tested it. Indeed, the bearing is faulty and Mazda will repair it with no charge to me. And, I will do that 30k service.

I am not an expert on the cars. And, have very little knowledge on how dealer and car company works. But, this dealer really earned me a big trust for getting my problem fixed with this solution.

Lastly, English is not my first language and if anyone finds my story is hard to read, please just ignore my posting. I just want to share a good dealership in bayarea.

No problem Mutex2k, I understood your post very clearly... Your English is better than you think.(drinks)

I'm glad you'll have your Mazda5 fixed pretty soon (fingers crossed). Hope that dealer would be as good as they appear.
