**MOD EDIT**

This is a product interest thread only. Vendor needed 100 people interested in product to begin contruction, this number has been reached and production has begun. ElbowsHigh will be selling these products through TheRPMstore.com. When product is available and pricing has been finalized, there will be an announcement and a link for where to purchase the product. Please do not add your name to the list as it is no longer necessary. Thanks to everyone for their patience.

A ventpod system that allows the gauge to sit inside the vent but allows air to pass freely by. I know some individuals dont like the look of pillar gauge pods or pods that place the gauge in front of the instroment panel. This group purchase is based on commitment. Since its a smaller company looking to get things rolling in the Mazda3 community. If we can get upwards of 100 to commit we can get things started.

Prices are estimated to be around the same. If you are Interested please send me a PM or post here.

These pods will be similar to the roush vent pod:

Let me know!

EDIT: This is just a feeler and am working with Elbows-High through the proper steps to get this approved.

The second thumbnail:
"Here's an image from my CAD software. Obviously, it will not be molded in orange, LOL!"

"These will be injection molded ABS plastic, molded in black. They will be dimensionally very stable and a nice, tight slip fit, right into the opening in the dash."

"When you zoom in, you'll see that the pod is a bit grainy. I've mentioned this several times, that it is due to the rapid prototype process. Rest assured, the production pieces will be smooth as a baby's bottom."

im definetly in just 3 questions, these will fit 52mm pods right? what do you mean by "20$ pre-mold 20$ after"? and these would be a direct fit with no modifications?

Roger these will be for the 52mm vent gauges and should just just be able to strip the old vents and insert these gauge pods. Just like the mustang or F150 version.

Shouldn't product "feeler" threads be setup with polling?

+1 ... I'd be interested in the vent-pod

Umm, the person responsible for designing the Roush gauge pods for the Ford Mustang & F-150 is possibly working on this already for our vents. See the following thread. He goes by the username 'Elbows-High'.

I think this is a great idea. However, LtTroyer and Elbows-High have been made aware that vendor status is required before this can actually happen.

You are correct mckraut, Im doing the homework to see who is actually interested in this idea. Im also in process of authorizing this sale as mentioned above, with a vendor. (thumb)

If we get enough response for this, one way or another the requirements will be met. ;) No sales or exchange of any funds will happen until then.

Thanks all! And especially LT!!

EDIT for status update:

I've been receiving parts from my supplier that have been sub-par in my opinion. The surface quality was not acceptable. I've tried numerous processes to "doctor" them up, and all that got me was crappier parts. :(
There have been alot of air bubbles and divets on the main surface of the pods; the surface receiving the silver paint. The paint accentuates these blemishes and leaves me with junk in my opinion.

So, on Friday, Aug. 29th, I had a meeting with my supplier and we addressed these issues. He is going to recut a new tool (an aluminum tool) which should take care of all of my complaints with the current tool (which was a "soft tool" made of some composite material I'm not familiar with). The new tool is substantially more money, but that will not affect the pricing!

I owe each of you an apology for letting this drag out so long! My only excuse is that I refuse to bring junk to market. I'd rather have a customer wait for something worth waiting for than to have a long list of unsatisfied customers.

There have been gaps in my posting frequency, and that's due to the fact that I've been put on 7 twelve-hour days at my day job, and I'm training for the Detroit Free Press Marathon. My days are starting to blend into each other. :( I will make every effort to stay in touch more frequently, and certainly as updates are available.

Watching and leaning. Any pics of prototypes installed? And how will they be manufactured. If they are nice close fit inserts I will take two!

I haven't been able to have the first prototype grown yet, but once I do, I will post pics of the installation. ;)

Also... if this is going to be made, maybe angle the actual gauge seating area towards the driver. Seems like the OEM vent just points away.

Just a thought.

Thats an interesting idea. Im sure with more interest in the vent-pod this variation could be possible.
