Just curious if anyone has installed a Valentine One in their 2014 Hatch yet, and if so where you wired it, and how you have it displayed. If you know of any links with a "How-to" that explains the process that'd be great.
I wanted the Valentine up and running as quick as possible. I couldn't find the visor mount.
I cut a piece of cardboard and folded it to create a platform for the Valentine. I used double sided tape on tap of the 7" display and another piece of tape right behind the display. The tape holds the platform to the display and dash. I used a third piece of tape to hold the Valentine to the platform.
I like the location, other than the Valentine getting extremely hot. I might try to make a sun reflector out of white paper. I don't like the cardboard. A nice piece of thin and strong plastic would look better. I don't like the double sided tape either. I'll get some hook and loop (velcro) tape soon.
I can't really comment on the mount, but I can say that it isn't particularly difficult to pop the trim and infotainment bracket out so you can run the cable inside the dash for a cleaner installation once you get the mount sorted out. Home Depot and Amazon sell sheets of Lexan/polycarbonate that can be scored/snapped or cut with a standard miter/table saw. If you wanted to get really fancy you could have something 3D printed at Staples.
Why not just hardware it on the right side of rear view mirror and run the wire tucked under the head board and down the pillar into the fuse box utilizing an "add a fuse"? Clean install that way.
