Does anyone know if the ignition from 2010 - 2011 can be use in 2009 cx 7? I want the newer key system than what the 2009 has. I asked the dealer but the person said no due to encryption. I dont believe him.

The systems are not compatible. I wanted to do the same for my 2010, to a 2014 system and the mechanic was really cool about explaining how there are different components to the entire system, i.e. actual parts that are not the same. He also said that there were some that are tied to the vehicle, meaning the code system is tied to the car's PC and it'd be like switching VIN #'s from one car to another.
Lastly, just imagine all the hard work and time it'd take to do something for such a minor "upgrade". I can think of a better thing to spend your money on,... i.e.
