USB Harness for Aftermarket Unit

Hi, I just installed a new head unit and find the idea of putting the USB port in the glove box very inelegant, especially given that the car already has a nice solution for it. So I started looking for a way to keep the USB in the middle console, and I think I found it:

This looks very much like the male for the USB connector I unplugged from the stock radio. I just need to add another USB male-male and plug it in the back of my head unit and I think it may work.

Has anybody tried to do this? I will let you know once it arrives.

Do you have a 2014+ model year car? If so, this will NOT work. If you have a 2013, it might work.

I tried this one. Doesn't work in 2014+ model years because of changes to the Bluetooth/USB interface.
