Upgraded Hub to wireless CarPlay/AA

Hello guys! Just to share that i finally did the upgrade to have wireless carplay/android auto on my CX5 2018…. As everyone knows, first step is to upgrade the firmware of the system to at least 70.00.100 …. (If you need to do this upgrade you gotta first to do it from your original/standard usb adapter NOT from the new one)

Then, i ordered from Aliexpress the usb Adapter/Hub replacement, the one that is wireless and type C.

Then proceeded to take out the original usb adapter from the resting arm, routed the new cables from there to the dash (is not necessary to dissamble the entire center console).

Just plug in and everything is working flawless

How did you route the cables to the dash?

Your 2021 has wired carplay already. you just need a wireless adapter that plugs into the USB port inside the armrest cubby. I added this one to my 2019 CX-5 and it works fine: https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

NOTE: you phone must be configured via the wired connector first, before you use this.
I realize I can add a generic wireless carplay adapter that plugs into the usb port but I would prefer an integrated one like the op was able to buy. I'll just stick with wired carplay for now.

Hello again!

This is what i did, using this video as a tutorial so there’s no need to remove the entire center console… very easy to do this way, just be sure to tie the cables to avoid shaking noises behind the plastics

Does the new USB hub use bluetooth to connect to CarPlay, in the same way a dongle does?

Basically, is it just an integrated dongle?

Hi,

Is your Mazda navigation system still working or was that it was not working when using the custom hubs..?
