UPDATE: Ion FMIC installed

got my FMIC installed yesterday. I had a shop install it and it took them all day. really tight fit, but the owner said that the piping was as good as any piping he had ever seen. he was really impressed and mentioned to me that i got what i payed for. the clamps were very tight fitting over the hoses. so tight fitting that on my first two test drives, i popped a pipe. after some retightening and more retightening, all seems well so far. and fyi, i personally, and my cousin who has ridden in my car alot lately, felt a big diiference in performance and sound on just stock boost. blow off valve is alot louder now too. two guys stopped at a light next to me asked me what the hell i was driving and said that it sounded "just plain mean". it is worth the wait. i am just glad i did not try to install myself because after seeing all that had to be done and the amount of time it took, i know there is no way in hell, i coul've done it in a reasonable amount of time. i am a beginner though. anyways just thought i'd follow up and let you guys know the kit is awesome. i just hope i dont pop anymore clamps.

awesome man, im actually gonna be driving up to wagner in PA to have them install it on my MSP...andy said he would install it for 100-150. How much did the shop charge you?

$120, but he told me if he had known ho]w hard it would be, he would have chargede more. but he does not go back on his word and he only charged what he quoted me. anyone in the san antonio area looking for a good performance shop that helps its customers and know how to treat them, look up speed elements on perrin beitel. great bunch of guys there and awesome service.

hey discreet, i MUST check out your car, when are you going to the austin meet? will you be going to hi-perfs drag event? no pics yet. i need to get my camera back from a relative who borrowed it.

Damn it sounds awsome!! Im myself am torn between the Ion FMIC and the Hiboost FMIC I just dont know which one to go with. Can any one help me make the decision. One thing is for damn sure the stock intercooler needs to be replaced

Get the iON. The routing of the pipes is way better.

to help you with the clamps...

The smallest pinhole leak will cause an erratic idle.<O:p</O:p

A nifty trick to combat leaks is to liberally spray extra strength hairspray on the Intercooler pipe ends before slipping the couplings over them. This will allow for the couplings to slide over the Intercooler pipes with great ease and provide an air tight seal.

Good tip Matthew. I'm gonna have to remember that one. "Sorry honey, I used all of your hairspray... on the car. lol.

i bought all my stuff today for the turbo install, like oil, RTV, locktite, teflon tape, etc. forgot hairspray and couldnt decide which size bolt to buy to plug up the EGR valve...but anyways, yea, the hairspray trick sounds pretty good.

get the wagner, its cheaper and just as good!

Not IMO. Check out the routing of the pipes in iON's kit and compare it to all of the others, then tell me what you think.

if only iON had a website........then i too could know of these pipes.....
god damn i want a front mount ic.........lucky bastiches.....
