Uninstalling Stock CBE...

Is there anyone with the service manual handy that can find the torque specs for the subframe and lower shock bolts?

Rear Shock Torque Specs: Lower bolt - 75.5-102 N.m (55.69-75.15 ft.lbf)

According to the service manual diagram, there only seems to be 3 bolts that attach the rear subframe to the vehicle... Can anyone confirm this???
There seems to be two large alignment pins, each with their own bolt and an addition bolt toward the front of the subframe.

Torque specs for all three bolts are: 97.7-132.3 N.m (72.06-97.57 ft.lbf)

I hope this helpls!!!!!

you have to lower rear subframe to take out stock cbe ,If I will cut out my stock cbe do I still have to lower my rear subframe to put croksport cbe??

No, you only lower the subframe if you do not want to cut your stock CBE... The Cork Sport comes in two pieces...

I took a real close look at it all this weekend while putting my stock rims/tires back on. I saw 5 big bolts. Two on the alignment pins as you stated, one in the middle under the skid plate and two in the center of the coil springs. You can see were the come in by lifting up the back seat and taking it out. The bolts are there under the seat.

I haven't had anytime to read through the service manual yet regarding the R&R of the CBE...but it does say you have to lower the rear subframe.
(I had a brain fart and looked at the suspension chapter, instead of the CBE section)

Let me take a look at it tonight and see what the steps are to R&R the CBE...

I remember a member on here said that he only took out three bolts to lower the subframe...

Let me confirm that tonight...

Hey that would be cool of you to do! Thanks....... :) I am doing it with out cutting the stock exhaust because if I do not like the TurboXS set up I will be swapping it out for the stock system within days of putting it on.

According to the service manual:

-Remove the rear shock absorber lower bolts
-Loosen the rear cross-member component installation bolts (6) and lower the rear cross-member approx 2.8"

So there is 6 bolts (3 on each side) to undo in the rear cross-member/subframe.

And it seems that two of the bolts are in each of the springs. Is there any access to it without having to remove the springs? According to the diagram, the bolts are all accessible from the under-carriage.

I'm getting my CBE this Wednesday and if I have to remove springs, then I'll be cutting the exhaust!! I don't want an involved install...

Andrade08, do you remember what kind of access is down there?

Ya, you can get at the bolts in the springs. Plus...the rear springs are TINY in this car!!! I have never seen such a small coil spring. You could probably pop it out with your hands!

Yeah, this car does have some soft springs...I test drove a regular 3 and it was even softer!!!!

Hopefully my CBE gets here tomorrow and I can install it tomorrow night...
I'll try to take pics if I can.

Thanks for checking!!! (2thumbs)

If you are simply worried about not being able to go back to stock after cutting it...do this: go to a shop to re-weld it before trade in. That's what I plan to do.
