2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
I just installed my unichip and went three or four days of using map A and map B + the high boost button. I had no problems at all. After a couple of days my check engine light came on. It turns out the code was for a speed sensor malfunction. Will the unichip mess with that sensor? I am trying to figur out what is causing this engine code. I checked over the connections for all the wires that looked like they had something to do with that sensor

subbing hows it runnin with the codes?

It runs fine. I just took it off and ran the car without it hooked up and no code at all. WEIRD. I am wondering if it was being caused by the amount of boost I was running. (spike at 14-15 and hold at 11)Unichip boost controller is bad. I know it was unsafe. That is why I am planning on running a seperate greddy ebc. Waht do you guys think?

Bump........ Anybody experinced this before or even heard of it.Basically my unichip was causing me to throw a check engine light which resulted in a vehicle speed sensor malfunction.

speed sensor on the protege is driven by a speedo gear inside the trans. the speed sensor on the msp is a series of sensors actually, the wheel speed ABS sensors, which also determine brake force distribution when the ABS kicks in. a check engine light for this implies one of your wheel speed sensors is faulty.

So how would I go about fixing this? I would like to be able to run my unichip with no check engine lights. I currently have it off the car and no codes have been thrown.

which map do you run? A or B?

I ran A most of the time. But I have ran both with no problem......... Only one night it was like 45 degrees out and I bucked in 3rd at about 5k rpms.

I am going to replace my clutch within 2 weeks. I am leaning towards exedy stage 1. I am unsure of what to get. I want something that is pretty streetable and not a pain to drive in traffic. My clutch was slipping in 4th and 5th gear on the high boost setting. Anybody upgraded their clutch and have any reccomendations?
