UniChip didnt seem that good

three car lengths is a pretty good bit.

A couple things to consider, don't forget driver skills come into play and are you 150 lbs and he 250lbs?

only one problem...the unichip isn't set to 13psi or even 12 psi...it spikes to 12psi (designed for good throttle response) and holds at 10psi the rest of the way. so, in reality, not bad for the 2lb difference in boost (3-4 car lengths)

Incorrect.... It is set to go to 12psi where it's safer to, then it goes down to 10psi in the top end. That info has been posted countless times.

Did you guys switch cars and race then? It sounds like you're comparing apples and oranges to me. There's more variables than just what is bolted on to the car.

my bad ben, thanks for the correction...i only meant to say that the unichip might not be holding 13psi, as jeff stated in the very 1st post.

well we are suppost to go again tonight at 8pm. I am about 200 and he is probobly a bit less though i dont think it would make that big a difference. I also have two 12s, a big amp and big box but beh same s***. I think his car and driving are fine, he just doesnt wanna go again. guess we will see tonight :) I also figured a full 3" turboback would help out conpared to my homemade 2.5" Jpipe 2.5" HFCat and 3" back to stock axleback and stock MSP muffler. His sure sounds nice though, mines just a bit louder than stock. I borrowed a turbosmart MBC so I dont have to deal with my joeP crap tonight, still spikes just not as bad (only 2-3psi) so I should be able to keep it at 10psi alot better than before.

Yeah, but not every car is the exact same..... HP numbers can be substantially different from car to car out of the factory. Also, not every driver is the exact same..... that's why you should switch cars. That will at least eliminate one of the many variables still left as to why one car would be faster than the other.

It's pretty unfair for you to be saying a part isn't vary good based on a couple of runs w/ out addressing all the variables that are present.

why does everyone rank on the hiboost FMIC. I did a lot of back to back runs on the dyno for tuning the MPI, atleast 8 runs at stock boost, and atleast that much more at about 10 psi, it kept making more power each run, granted that was from tunning, sure as hell didnt lose anypower...

Horsepowerfreak: Any truth to this? i thought the ECU can't learn around the Unichip....

No.

I've daily driven my MSP w/ Unichip for over a year now (probably near 20k miles). I still pull tripple digit traps in the 1320. I also get 25-26mph in town and 27mpg on the freeway.

*that is just my account of course, does not speak for everyone who has one. I have known many people to run those systems that have had no issues.

that's good to know, thanks.

well we planned to race last night at 8pm. I was there, he didnt show up. He was lucky I had like $5 of 94octane gas and a bottle of octane booster in the otherwise empty tank to compliment the working boost controller.Goes really nice especially with the spike to 14 :) Guess we will have to go some other time. I am pretty sure that there is nothing else I can do aside from an EMS on the stock motor to make more power, sorta disappointing, I dont want to rebuild a perfectly fine motor, and I dont think an EMS will get me going as fast as I am looking to go. now Im thinking of trading in the car for a miata. There is a mint 99 25th aniversary edition for sale that has less KMs than my speed and Im loving the blue/black leather.

well then. hahaha i the mike you r all talking about hahaha. and i just found the biggest problem i have wwith my car cluuuuuutchhhhhhhhhhhhhh is a peace of dodo. so tues comes a ACT 6 PUCK i think that was my problem with only pulling three cars on jeff. plus i let off half way in 3rd and we all know guys that are 3rd gear is the money gear. i have ghl 3inch into a 2.5 sp2 cat back, hi boost fmic, unorthodox under drive pully, injen cold air, denso cold plugs that i just got today. but i wanna get it tuned for sure.

nice I was hoping you would find the thread ok. So you think its the clutch not the unichip now?, get that new one and we will go for a pass and then one after to see if theres a difference :) Sounded like you were hitting gears fine but if you think it will make a difference than I hope it works out. Where are you getting it done? Come by my shop and we can put it in no problem and have a couple beers should you feel inclined.

ohhh man u told to laate i went to IAC i already pay. i work on my own cars and others. ive been working on cars for years. i would have done it at home but theres no room in my garge and yea i was only going to 4500 rpm when i was runing u cause it starts to slip after that
