Undercoating Alternative, the "module"

Im in the process of buying a 2010 Mazda3 GS, and I am currently picking out my protection type stuff.

The dealer offered me the choice of the classic sprayed undercoating, or this "module" that hoooks into the battery and sends currents through the car negating the corrosion. I had never heart of this thing before so if anyone has any experience with it I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Also how does everyone feel about the extended warranties, the pain protection plan, or the bug deflector/chipguard cellophane-y stuff?

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks.

I've always seen it as a gimmick for the dealers to get more money. The undercoating will help if you live in a climate where they salt roads in the winter. The rust proof module I'd say turn down. You already have a separate warranty for rust on the car.

I've seen these sold in the aftermarket for hotrods. Never seen any data one way or the other, so I would tend toward the traditional undercoat.

Please do not fall for the dealer aftermarket undercoating. Usually allowing a Mazda dealer to apply that will render your corrosion warranty from Mazda USA as invalid. No modern car needs an aftermarket undercoating. The engineers at all the manufactures have made incredible strives in reducing corrosion as a problem. Aftermarket coatings can usually cause problems, by trapping moisture under them or disturbing the engineered setup.

The electrolytic system is a totally joke and should just be renamed the customer wallet vacuum.

If I dealer would ever try to sell me either an undercoating or the wallet vac, I would find another dealer.
