So its been a month or so since I washed my car and so I washed her today. After going around the car I get to the exhaust and the bumper directly to the left has all this carbon deposit on it. I managed to get 70% of it off but theres still that 30% on still on there!!!

I don't want to rub it too hard and repeated soapy applications didnt get it off.

Am I screwed or what?

youll need a stronger cleaner.

you could also try claying it.

try something like scratchX. Its easy enough to work by hand, and will remove it.

wax will not remove anything.

Clay Bar followed by your favorite wax.

You should clay the entire car once a year, it will remove the surface contaminants which wouldn't come off with a wash.

Well yeah that will certainly work but without killing himself I'd suggest a little detail quick wax will go a long way.

Wax itself won't clean it but will allow you to use a micro-fiber towel with a little bit pressure to rub it off. I know because I do it all the time so saying it won't work isn't true.

They were bad enough that soap and mildly harsh rubbing could not take them off.

But the wax worked wonderfully!
