Don't know whether this is the most appropriate location for this thread but...

I am trying to gather information on peoples impressions on Australian available tyres in 17" sizes.

For those that respond could you provide info on your regular driving style, wear patterns, wheel alignment specs, etc. That way I (and everyone else) can get a better idea of the applicability of your recommendations to our situation.

Cheers,

yep this is the right place to write that. either here (since it's aussie related) or in the wheels/rims/tyres forum.

i used to have goodyear eagle f1's on my previous car - they were amazing in the wet. they were 16's, but they make plenty in 17" size

I am using Falken ZE502 in 205/40-17s and these are a very good if not great tyre.
A fairly quiet tyre (important with an SQ system.....), I get little tyre noise on anything but coarse-chip surfaces and when pushed they just don't howl or scream to much degree at all.

Decent grip wet or dry.
If there is a corner in sniffing range I will generally go into attack mode :)
Too early to tell much on wear rate, only been on the car for 8,000ks but not not showing much at this stage.

Car has camber kits both ends, for street use it runs about 1.3 deg neg front, 0.9 neg rear which gives even wear with my use.
Bear in mind too that my car has a much stiffer set-up, springs, Koni Sport shocks and heavy rear bar than a stock car.

I'm in the fortunate position of having some good twisty stuff to play with regularly in my area......

yeah i'm a little bit out, but i'm a post ***** so i will commnet

i'm running 15's on mine, BUT that aside i can highly reccommmend Bridgestone G3 Potenza, they make heaps in 17's and are pretty good on the hip pocket... sound is great, wear is good, but i mainly drive the freeway...

it all depends on what exactly you want out of it... i've heard fantastic things about silverstones for 17/18/19 inches as well - these should be good for handling as well a bit of track work, but are a little bit noisy

wow, you learn something every day.. I'm gunna start spelling it tyres from now on to be as cool as the chaps in oz... werd...

and drive on the proper side of the road!!! no wonder your tyres are wearing wrong!!

haha, your pissed again arn't ya?
stock tyres suck they need to be dumped and quickly... i aquaplaned on the freeway while sitting between two trucks!!! not fun at all
