Two Quick Questions

I used to have a VW Beetle and the backs of the driver and passenger seat both had the magazine holders and my Mazda3 only has it on the driver's side...that's normal, right?

Also, the dealer was talking about the automatic transaxle and he called it something weird but I forgot what he said...is there a name for it other than "automatic transaxle"?

Sorry if these questions seem stupid and I hope I posted them in the right area!

autoshift, steptronic, shiftable automatic. pretty much every manufacturer has their own names.

thats just what the tec said from my mazda dealer when i bought mine

Thanks for all your answers! I was looking at some other topics and found one that discussed manuals versus automatics and found the word the guy used: tiptronic.

"Tiptronic" is just the proprietary name for the VW/Audi/Porsche manumatic trans.

Every manufacturer has a different name for it.

Mazda is boring and just calls theirs "4-speed electronically controlled Sport AT automatic transmission"

Alright, thanks for the information! Would it be crazy to refer to it as "tiptronic" as opposed to the boring, mile-long, Mazda name?

I dunno if it would be crazy but if somebody knew what a tiptronic actually was, then they might point and laugh at you (hah)

"Manumatic" is a safe, generic term. So is "autostick".
