TWM full replacement sts

hello, I would just like some opinions from people who have this short shifter. I am not talking about the plates, I am referring to the full replacement. I like its features but I question if it is worth over 400 bucks. Can anyone share? I searched and the only threads I was able to find were posted by TWM and are the "teaser" video which shows/tells me nothing. I would not have a problem buying this kit if it were in the 200-300 range as I have spent that much on other vehicles, but 400+ is a little ridiculous in my opinion.

Also, what do you need from this kit? Are you able to just buy the replacement unit which is $415 or do I need the adapter and counter weight?

any information is appreciated,
Jason

I have it for the 07-09 Speed3. It is a fantastic piece that is built with quality craftsmanship and backed by a quality name brand. If you follow road racing much, Team Sahlen of the Grand Am series just installed one in their Continental Tire Series 2010 Speed3. They are loving it! I wrote up my review about it in my build thread--here is a link to the direct post:

Also, here on the forums, PM 'Perro del sol' about getting this piece. We don't call him "The Godfather" without good reason--he can hook you up with anything from anywhere at the best possible price. Hope this helps!

Edit: The adapter, shift weights, and knobs are all accessories to this piece, but are not needed to function. But trust me, if you go all out with this and new tranny fluid......you will never miss a shift and everything will be smooth as butta!

One of the biggest issues I had with the 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 was the shifting. It felt like I was driving a Jeep or old S-10. But I am absolutely thrilled to go through the gears now. I have the TWM short shifter replacement in conjunction with the adapter plate and the weighted shifter knob.

Quick reviews to follow.

TWM STS replacement: Amazing quality, perfect fit, and easy install. Took perhaps thirty minutes from start to finish. And the directions were specific, with pictures, and TWM personel wont mind the call or email to assist in the install. After install, the throws are amazingly shorter, and seem to be more accurate. My 2nd to 3rd shift is spot on now.

Short Throw Adapter Plate: The plate took all of five minutes to install. And the greatest thing about it is that it is adjustable. You can adjust between a smooth buttery shift feel, or a more mechanical feel.

The Shift knob: At 600grams it is definitely a heavy knob, at times it becomes troublesome cause it moves too easily on its own from the weight, hahaha. But all together the Shift Knob is awesome. I would probably go with a ball knob next time instead of the Type R.

All in all, I am in love with my MS3 now. The shifting has been vastly inproved and the spirited driving sawa huge incline since the install.

I personally recommend getting the adapter with the Shifter replacement. I dont feel the weighted knob is necessary. (sorry TWM lol) But I got the type R just to throw some Honda in my life.

A couple of 2010 Mazdaspeed 3's in the Continental Race Teams are using the TWM Full Replacement Kit, Freedom Autosport will be fully testing the Product and Team Sahlen loves their kit. i-Moto will be looking to replace their stock shifters in their cars, once Grand-Am gives their approval for use in the series. It is a great piece and is a well made piece. that I highly recommend.

That's what I needed to hear :) I have not purchased a speed yet, but I have test driven a few and I am not thrilled with the stock shifter. I currently drive an S2000 and the shifting is very precise. I am just doing some research and planning on parts to buy the day I get the car lol! I am going to Chicago on Friday to look at another hopefully they will get to the price i want.

thank you for the information.
