Tweeter hissing

So I just put in my JL XR components and they sound friggin awesome. The only thing is, whenever there aren't any high notes, I guess the tweeter is just picking up noise and makes this annoying hissing sound. It's not really that loud, but it's noticeable if there's no music playing (like the last 2 secs of a track). I mean, the same thing happens to my speakers when they're idle too, so I figure it's a somewhat normal thing? Or am I being stupid and forgetting something?

Thanks

well.. I am going to assume that you have an amp for those XR's. and if you have an amp then there is that ground thing that got wake? mentioned.

did you cross any of the wires going back to the amp? like run them on the same side. that can cause problems sometimes.

bad ground probably. does the noise increase as the RPM's increase?

nah... It's at a steady volume. That good or bad?

If it was a bad ground, why does it only affect the tweeters?

cause the noise is prob high freq. and the tweets are what plays the highs.

the main reasons for this are crossed wires, bad ground, or maybe you mounted your crossovers by something that puts of some noise.

What else is in the system for amps and a head unit?
Also is the noise there when the radio is at 0 for volume.

the system consists of a pioneer HU, xr components, 10w0, 300/4. and no noise when it's at 0 volume.

So does the 300/4 power the XR's?

I have a cd track somewhere that I may be able to email to you if your emial can handle it. Its basic digital silence. Its used to determine how much noise the headunit and amps are actualy inducing into the system.

yes the 300/4 powers the xrs. Ummm...how big is the file? I think I can handle up to 15mb attachments, so if it's less than that i'll give that a shot.

only other thing I can think of is maybe if you used a really cheap RCA cable. soemtimes teh really cheap one will allow some noise.

Then again, maybe it's the CD of snake sounds I am listening to.

lol... damn my snake CD

I was just listening to it some more and it actually might be more of high humming sound than a hissing. Or maybe a little cross between the two.

I can't find my manual at the moment, but my HU is a pio premier 740 and I think it's around 94 or 96 SN ratio.

problem solved

well son of a b****... it was the CD. I have MP3 CDs so I was using those, but I guess it's something with my burner maybe? but when I put in a 'real' CD (like one I actually bought) then it goes away. but yea...good to know its just my CDs and not my system. Thanks for the help though people

a really good possiblility with something like that is having your gains turned up to high on your amp. sounds like u have a lowly recorded mp3 and u may have had to turn the volume up a bit higher on it, i'd readjust your gains as well.
