Turn the boost up?

I had a feeling some people were goin say do it do it. Then some were going to say dont do it look what happened to me. A guy i know can tune cars very well, so im going to get him to help me tune my car when i up the boost. So i will give some updated post later on when it do it. IF I DO IT?

All the tuning in the world DOES NOT change the fact that the rods are as thick as a index finger.

I say do it if you have the money for any consequences.

yes, our rods suck asscrack, and tuning the car to make MORE power, well that just makes it worse on the rods...

i'm going to post that picture of brianmp5t's in my garage so incase i ever get a boost controller, i'll always remember. maybe one for under the hood too.

That's why you take the opposite approach and tune it for SAFETY... not to make MORE power. I truely believe that I would blow mine in a second if I went out right now and leaned out the fuel to about 12:1 and gave back some timing.

Don't get me wrong, conservative tuning won't make it indestructable, but it will allow you to run a lot more power than if you were to run an aggresive tune with lower boost.

As always, just my .02

505, how many miles you been at 12psi....im kind of talking about durations of time also, not like 20k miles(if it lasts that long), i guess what im tryin to say is, on a stock block, with our crap rods, after time, with alot of power, IMO the rods will give out if nothing else happens 1st.

I started pushing 20psi on the stocker the second weekend of september last year... did that for 3 weekends... stocker gave up... been running the disco at 12psi and higher ever since 2 weeks after that (took it easy for 2 weeks to break in the turbo). I get on it anywhere beween 5 and 10 times a day (every day) for a strong pull through second gear and a lot of times I will shift and go about half way through third. I have put about 11k miles or so on the car since then.

Hope that answers your question.

11k, not bad, around the mileage my stocker shat the piston, but that was because it was untuned, and i beat it at the track/street alot, so that was my fault, hopefuly it lasts a whlie for you.

Won't really need to last much longer... my motor should be here in about a month.(rockon)

actually, brian was utilizing a t-25 if im not mistaken, just running like 15psi? i forget...unless he upgraded turbo

GT-28s, but the revs is what killed it.

235 Km/h held for 8 seconds and it went... (blowup)

Well

I have 70k miles and close to 2.5yrs at 12PSI daily. I do get pinging at 13PSI in 3rd at WOT over 5500RPM but up to 12 has been ping free. I don't boost hard in 5th at low RPM and I don't beat the hell out of it when I don't have constant airflow over the tiny ass stock IC.
For instance in stop and go traffic around town etc. I do hammer the crap out of the first three gears to and from work and I do enjoy it quite a bit. Will yours blow? Who knows maybe maybe not...

Good luck...

best way to answer this question is, if s*** does happen, are you willing to pay the money it will cost to fix it...because don't rely on warranty.

Best statement so far in this thread. IF you can't pay for it, don't play with fire.
