turn signals not working

I recently got a new set of aftermarket headlamps for my 2001 Protege. After they were installed, the signal lights stopped functioning at all and attempting to use them gets a quickly flashing indicator and clicking. The funny thing is if the old signal light sockets are connected, they work. But they don't fit the new headlamps exactly (a little too small) so they can't be used.

Forgot to mention that the rear signal lights work when the new front turn signals are installed, but flash quickly.

Did you contact the seller? With so many sold, they were bound to have been asked about the same quandary.

I sent them an e-mail with the issue and didn't get any advice except to file a claim with PayPal and they'd issue a refund. Don't know why, but they ended up refunding the whole thing.

So my (now former) mechanic was wrong. A set of new OEM Mazda sockets fit just fine and lock into place exactly as expected, so I'm guessing he either gave me back the wrong ones or they were not for a Protege in the first place.
